With Trumps blessing, the unelected and unaccountable Musk is trying to decimate and ultimately destroy the nonpartisan civil service, without a peep of protest from Republicans. Foreign aid programs that long enjoyed bipartisan support have been axed and only Democrats complain. Trump seizes powers that the Constitution clearly gives to Congress, not the president and Republicans in Congress pretend not to notice.
Rather than push back, leaders of Trumps party lavish him with North Korean-style praise. Im confident that if the top Republicans in Congress were meeting with Trump and the president accidentally spilled Diet Coke on his red necktie, they would all promptly spill Diet Coke on their red neckties, too.
I base this prediction on how they reacted to Trumps pronouncement about somehow moving all the Palestinians out of Gaza so that the United States could develop the land into a luxury beach resort. As the leaders of neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt have said in no uncertain terms, the idea or hallucination is pure lunacy.
But Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) called Trumps nonsensical proposal a bold, decisive move. Anyone who expects the GOP to protect our democratic system is dreaming.

Steven Miller of some other sycophant is wispering in his ear that he should complain about, and the will put Robinson on their enemy's list.

Bold, decisive move indeed!
The inhumanity of Trump's words, and Mike Johnson's reply are plainly evident.
10's of thousands of people died in Gaza, and even more bodies lie rotting under the rubble, and Trump sees it all as an exciting, fun-filled vacation resort for rich people.
The unspoken words here are how he envisions a casino, resort hotel, and golf course there; all under the Trump brand, of course.
Trump has no love in his heart, and Johnson is just one of his brain dead zombified minions.

Mike Johnson has been a traitorous fascist shit since he was a teenager.
Mike Johnson fucked over, ripped off, and inflicted toxic waste clouds upon his hometown, his parents, his district, his state and now his nation.
He is a toxic waste cloud.
Mike Johnson is a traitorous fascist shit.
That was as polite as possible.

On DU it is mostly in re the Nazarene and his various and sundry warring cults of worship having a go.

(816 posts)Johnson shows himself as a religious zealot and is willing to ignore our Constitution
to achieve his religious goals. The Supreme Court now has a majority that also is
willing to twist law and logic for religion and misogyny.

Get a bunch of periodicals to participate in a monthly service where the user is allowed X number of articles per month, from Y number or periodicals. The user chooses which media they want when they sign up. I'd pay $50 a month for a service like that maybe more.
Someone please get on this!! Pretty please?

As Admiral Isoruko Yamamoto is cited to have said after the raid on Pearl Harbor in 1941....I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve. As we know, the rest is history.
