Musks capture of Treasury data and systems gives him the ability to seize anyones finances. The govt has the ability to lock and take any US financial account. This is usually reserved for locking accounts involved in financial crimes.
Do we think Musk and Trump wouldnt hesitate to do this to any person in this country?

(8,689 posts)3. Dont do Trumps work
This is more than simply resisting Trumps actions; it is refusing to accept his false assumptions. When he says he wants to abolish birthright citizenship, do not accept the premise that he has the power to do so. Stay grounded in the truth: The U.S. Constitution is clear, Trump is powerless and the courts will reject his efforts.
5. Believe in the courts
Republicans control all three elected branches of the federal government. They do not control the courts. Yes, the U.S. Supreme Court has a solidly conservative majority, but the high court only hears a few dozen cases a year. And in some of those, the Court has sided with democracy. Most importantly, remember that Joe Biden confirmed a record number of new federal judges. And, of course, there are state courts. For better or worse, we are dependent on the courts to help protect democracy. Rather than assume they will not, insist they do.

That's what this is about. Count on it.
They can also make selected payments to stay under the debt ceiling if necessary.

What does "we should focus on mid-terms" mean exactly? We have been focused on elections ever since Trump same down the elevator. And here we are.
"Is it just fear" and "I understand the concern" are condescending and dismissive remarks, i my opinion.

(1,078 posts)But youve totally lost the point that the ability for Musk to seize any individuals assets has been discussed. The lawsuits do not mention this potential for damage and the threat of this capability has not been discussed here at DU as is obvious from the responses to this thread. I suggest you take a break and relax and learn to be more civil in this time of cruelty. Have a good day, friend.

Musk's goal is not just to cut back on government spending to pay for tax cuts to billionaires, it is to bring down the United States.
Musk and Trump don't give a shit about the United States.

(13,366 posts)At my credit union, which uses the same routing system as every bank, the manager gave me more optimistic view.
1. Without a prior approval any withdrawal will be refused by my CU.
2. I have 90 days to dispute any withdrawal and my CU will credit my account immediately.
Even with that level of trustworthy, I will still move my money to other accounts that the government does not know about. I only keep a small amount of money in that account until it's time to pay bills, then the balance goes up just enough to cover the checks I wrote.

(1,790 posts)He's going to make the US Treasury buy tons of crypto to prop up the price for himself and his buddies (and Trump's dumb memecoin), and help them offload it into far more stable dollars. He'll claim it's an "investment" because when crypto goes up we can pay off the national debt. Then when they inevitably rug pull and crypto crashes the crypto bros will have all our dollars and the US government will own worthless garbage.

Of course the Treasury can remove funds from individuals accounts. They are the Treasury. They put Capone away! They don't just control the financial infrastructure of the United States, they ARE the financial infrastructure of the United States.
Anyone who doubts this has just not had any experience of working with them
