Can you imagine how swift Congress Critters would be hearing from their constituents demanding
something to be done about Muskrat & tRump?
Might start a civil war within the ReQublican party , MAGA loyalists vs 'This shit has to stop if I
ever hope to get reelected "
Sure get people who don't follow politics to start paying closer attention and maybe vote D.
The pain of losing half a month's SS check would be rectified fairly quickly because of the uproar.
Then we file a class action lawsuit "We the People" vs Muskrat and take every penny he has,
(much like Alex Jones) for thinking he could steal from so many of us.
Yes hurry up and cut our SS in half, I'm looking forward to seeing the entire United States united
in our opposition to reQublican's money & power grabs.
On edit added...........
The quicker the whole country gets mad or disillusioned with the current administration for
everything they're doing, the quicker we can hinder them from doing more damage. Never said
there would be no pain for us, plus Rs will be in the boat with us.

(22,574 posts)Put yourself in their shoes, it would be like everyone in your town is mad at you for something
you did and you are capable of fixing the problem so the death threats go away, what would
you do? And they would get death threats, those are popular with Rs today.
Keep in mind that's our money, we paid into it our entire lives. No money in the SS checking
account came from taxes on new cars or eggs.

(12,351 posts)Under the impression voting will be allowed.
He and a few of his minions in Congress and senate have been explaining every loop hole for him to serve a third term. He told it to his prayer breakfast cult and they cheered. One Congress Twit is trying to push legislation for him to do so. They all plan on staying as his servants without fearing losing a seat, fuck elections.
I think they have zero fear of their constituents, because they plan on life long positions.
So after they cut it in half or zero it out, we are helpless to get it back.
Unless

(12,351 posts)I Wish I could pinpoint them but I have heard various tactics that they can use, as recent as today.
Also, the constitution does not allow much of what they are doing. Bannon calls this the post constitution era. We are at fucking war.
Listen to the new head of OMB, Co author of Project 25. They could not give one fuck less about that old piece of paper.
Wiz Imp
(8,476 posts)If there were, they wouldn't have people introducing a Constitutional Amendment to allow it. Besides, I'm willing to bet Trump will be dead by 2028.
Traildogbob
(12,351 posts)You are correct. But we are in a serious downfall.
I also heard the OMB Secretary say, on Nichols show, we are in a post constitutional era. Repeating Bannon's statement. They truly believe this with full support of All GQP. We know how the Supremacy Court can twist the Meaning of the founders of that document. They are better than Evilgelical Mega Pastors at twisting meanings of words.
I think our only hope is if 2026 elections are allowed and not completely corrupted, as we are seeing here in NC right now with the GQP courts. Damned the rules.
Wiz Imp
(8,476 posts)That information needs to get out to everyone. While many MAGAs don't care, I'm pretty sure there is even a small group of them who would be horrified by that statement.
Traildogbob
(12,351 posts)Video of his rant. Earlier Randi showed a video of Bannon bellowing the same words on the War Room.
And that was not even the worst of Voughts rant. Stating he wanted federal workers to feel pain.
I have seen the same footage before after he was nominated.
It could be found, and must be plastered all over media. He wants P25 fully implemented. The OMB gives him the power, and every fucking GQP voted yes.
Hope some one here is tech savvy enough to post it here. Do we have our own Muskites for that?
Wiz Imp
(8,476 posts)I've seen the stuff about wanting federal workers to feel pain. In his confirmation hearing, several Democrats hammered him hard about those statements and his responses were awful.

(8,870 posts)No, there are no loopholes that would allow Trump to stand for a third term under the Constitution. To do so would be unconstitutional and illegal. But legality doesn't seem to be much of a hindrance to Trump, and without a Congress that is willing to impeach him if he violates the Constitution, and with a Supreme Court that has granted him immunity for anything he does under the guise of "official acts," who's to stop him? Our constitution and laws are only as good as the willingness of the party in power to enforce them
Wiz Imp
(8,476 posts)they wouldn't be trying to go through the legitimate channels of proposing a constitutional amendment like they have.
PoindexterOglethorpe
(28,388 posts)No loophole there.
Please don't just say you've heard there are loopholes. Look them up. I'll wait . . . .
Right. Just reread the amendment, please. So what exactly are the loopholes?
Traildogbob
(12,351 posts)The GQP, especially the current one, will follow ALL laws and constitutional amendments exactly. The Supremacy court and the Aileen Cannons will damn sure hold them to it. This is the party of law and justice and would never go against the constitution like the first amendment. The Church would never over ride State in creating laws. The people would never let that stand. We are gonna be just fine. When Trump stated he could get another term during his Prayer photo op last the, the Trump Jesus club cheered him on.
How many amendments have taken Trump to task that would have saved us from his plan to become a full dictator?
These thugs that have taken control do not give one fuck about any amendment that will disrupt their goals. And who is gonna stop them?
But yea, no way he would attempt and be successful in this current ruling class to stay in office till he rots.
Whew! I feel so much more confident now. God bless America.
Plus the Bible we keep us all safe under those rules.
They openly say the Bible should be our only constitutional rules, but that aint gonna ever happen.
Good times ahead. 2026 and 2028 will be completely legit elections and America will be great again, 100 percent adhering to that document all this GQP took an oath to protect.
Tuberville, MTG and Boobert will fight to make insure Democrat rules.
Musk is following to the letter every word in that old piece of paper.
Traildogbob
(12,351 posts)The loop hole is to amend the constitution.to allow trump to stay. Olgles, a Tennessee congressman is pushing this attempt, to amend, and you can be assured trumps fall in lineJudiciary, and legislative branches, which have full control will go head first full speed to get there. And his Supreme Court will allow whatever he wants.
I dont wanna argue, but we are keeping our head in The sand and singing God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood if we think they can not shit on The constitution for power forever. Unlimited funding to get there.
How is that Well Regulated holding up.
Separation of Church and State and free speech for media,
And that insurrectionists not allowed to run for office, not just trump but the 150+ congress members voting to overturn an election back in Office.
I took the oath multiple times while serving and fully believed that we would always have those laws to keep our nation and democracy. I use to always remove my hat, stand, With hand over heart at every event our anthem played. Even after volunteering to go into military during Vietnam, (draft number 324), through the Nixon years and all that patriotic bull shit thrown at us. I still believed in us and Democracy. I now hate to hear it and most times see our flag as another MAGAT symbol, and trump humoing the flag, FFS.
I no longer feel that our constitution will save us.
Trump and this GQP wipe their asses with the pages and smirk and laugh out loud as they break the laws over and over.
I Hope one day I can feel protected by the words as you do. I use to, and vowed to protect it with my life.
Have a great weekend, guess we gotta hang on to hope. But losing my grip day after day.

What you're saying makes no sense. If you're old enough and have enough quarters, you get SS. So I'm thinking you are lacking something important, such as perhaps having fewer than 40 quarters.
Again, whatever you are calling Phase II makes no sense at all.

SSA now has a portal. When you access your account it shows you the 3 phases (bar graph) & how far along you are in the process. It is really idiotic!
It really just shows that you have been OR have not been approved yet.
I far exceed the 40 credit threshold. So, thats no it.
And, I kept a printed copy of my application- There are no errors.
I am a bit concerned because someone who knows someone who works in SSA said they were told not to work on any of their accounts. This was last week.

I agree, cutting benefits in half would get everyone's attention but it will be painful for many, even if the money is repaid. Pharmacies and grocery stores will want payment at the time of service so a delayed payment might mean people go without.
I'm ambivalent about this.

Why no pain for those useless never lift a finger assholes. When I hear Bannon telling us there will be pain with that evil fucking smirk of his, I wanna induce a little pain.
He got retirement entitlements when he robbed his cult for Wall donations, he still has not seen any consequences for that thievery. Great gig there canker face asshole.

(20,478 posts)Every one of us receive Social Security and Medicare benefits. There are several I know of who are on Medicaid as a result of having NO other monies set aside. A number voted for tRump as well.
Some of us here will survive, but those who scream the loudest will be those who voted for him. My new Rep is Dr. Kelly Morrison here in MN 3rd Congressional District. She won handily over the MAGA candidate. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tuna Smith are on this like flies on flypaper. They are hearing from Minnesotans be they Democrats or not.
If your Representative or Senators happen to be MAGA Republicans, call them constantly to voice your opposition to this hostile takeover of our Democracy. Like Kamala said during the campaign..."Organize and mobilize. Make our voices heard."
VOICES heard so loud and often that they cannot ignore you. Spread the word.

(13,686 posts)Republicans won't drag their heels if/when Trump decides to raise the extra funds. And Dems? Well, that was our hill before we let our "passion" guide us. (Hopefully, that phase is over.) We'll definitely go along with saving SS and Medicare. Trump's already thinking he's going to stop taxing Social Security benefits, and that will probably happen. Relatively wealthy retirees are going to get a nice bump in their checks.
