It's hard to accept your country is gone

Last edited Sat Feb 8, 2025, 10:15 AM - Edit history (3)

But they are burning it to the ground and no one can stop them.
When they are finally stopped, it will be too late.
Sorry, but this ends in catastrophe for most of us.

So let me elaborate on this dark post.
Can we get it back? Sure, in 4 years if we are lucky. Maybe take Congress in 2026 and stop him any further. Can we rebuild? Sure, but we are talking about years to decades to recover from the damage.
In the mean time, Musk and his goons have stolen the sensitive data from our Government and probably given it to Russia and or China. The damage is done. They have erased Gigabytes of history from the system, they are systematically destroying the functionality of the Government. If it hasn't happened already it will once Gabbard and Patel are installed, our National Security secrets will be in the hands of Putin. The author of Project 2025 is not in charge of the OMB. Project 2025, not the Constitution is now the principal document of the United States.
So tell me how calling my Rep or going to a Town Hall stops this. It's fascism, my Grand Parents saw this in Germany, it ended when their country was is smoldering ruins.

There’s a difference between acceptance and acquiescence

We do have to ACCEPT the reality and it’s going to get much worse very quickly. They understand that they need to demolish governance and democracy.

But we don’t accept the means, methods or outcomes of DiaperDon’s destruction.

We have to accept the present situation and develop effective strategies to resist and stay mentally and emotionally strong.

There will likely be a strongman despot executive branch that controls the judiciary and legislative branches.

But we do NIT acquiesce — we do NOT give in to the Tyranny!

I wouldn’t rule out some of the billionaires coming to our aid. Not every billionaire is willing to witness the purposeful destruction of our country in return for tax cuts. The combined wealth (i.e., power) of Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Mark Cuban and others is probably more than that of Elon Musk. They know that Musk is gunning for them, too. Plus, frankly, a lot of the most wealthy people in our country are Jewish. They know where this leads.

We did not look too good when we entered WW2. We, the people did not give up then. And we
should not surrender now.. Too many ancestors have fought and died for this republic.
They showed courage and resistance. Can you imagine how frightening it was to stand up to
the British Crown in the 18th Century with their firepower, army, and navy. Our ancestors were a
bunch of ragtag rebels. If they had given up where would we be now? Keep the faith: this republic
is worth saving.

with this.attitude? Our Pacific Fleet was wiped out after December 7th. With this defeatism,
we would just surrendered and turned our country over to the Japanese.

As you said, it's only been two weeks..It's a tad early to be giving up.
My parents were part of the WW2 generation, my dad a sailor in the Pacific. It's hard to imagine Germany and Japan winning that war now, but I remember my mother telling me that at first, Americans weren't so sure..She said people would remind themselves that America had never lost a war, but at the time, Japan had never lost one either...Thanks for weighing in. We need Winston Churchill not Neville Chamberlain. I would note that only about 3 percent of the population actually fought in the Revolutionary War. Modern warfare is different of course, but the principle is the same. And this is more like the Revolutionary War or the Civil War as it is an internal conflict. So you make a good point. We defeated the tyranny of King George in the 18th century. We defeated the Confederates in the 19th century. We defeated the Nazis in the 20th century. There is no reason to think that we can not defeat the MAGA Fascists in the 21st century. Defeatism is a self fulfilling prophecy. If you think that you are going to lose, you definitely will. We need to summon the great fighting spirit of those that came before us. We have won before, we can win again. I would rather go out fighting than live on my knees.

"We are living through a coup, and the United States of America, a 248-year-old democracy is on the ropes."

But, as Heather Cox Richardson emphasizes, "it's not over. At all." That is from her Feb 4 livestream/YouTube. (I'm still watching that one.)

But from her Feb 2 livestream/YouTube:

We have maybe 3-4 weeks to stop the deep damage Musk and Co. are doing, HCR says.

We have a very important assignment from HCR – or the damage will be irreversible and a major economic depression becomes virtually inevitable. But she believes it can be done.

Here is Heather Cox Richardson's Politics Chat (originally live-streamed on Facebook on Sunday night, Feb 2).

Maybe I’m delusional, but I feel confident that we will get our country back. I don’t know when or in what condition, but I just don’t think that a country of 300+ million people will lie down and play dead while their lives are being destroyed. They’ve gone too far, too fast. At some point in the next year, the military will take action, or the international community will stand up, or we’ll have a French style revolution. But this cannot stand.

Today I saw a few and their message was clear...this WILL happen again and the current political climate around the world has many survivors comparing it to what happened before WW2. History WILL repeat itself, history IS repeating itself.

Reading the autopsy report was the hardest thing I have ever done. But I read it, and communicated the grim results with the rest of the family. I can finally accept that he is gone .. forever.

Now I need an autopsy report for our country: "0950 EST: The USA arrived in a white body bag with an identifying tag securing the end opening. The body had a green identifying band around the right calf. Rigor mortis was present, although the body was still warm. Time of death was 0417 EST .."
