(3,259 posts)That had more to do with losing a war.
Indeed, had Hitler not invaded the Soviet Union, he would have remained in power until he died natural death not unlike Franco.
Trump is no different.

(3,996 posts)I mentioned in another thread, that I think the reason that so many people are struggling is that income inequality has gotten so bad. If that is the fact, then this administration will not fix the problem. At the very least, it will not get any better. and his approval rating will gradually decline. His xenophobic Republican base will stick with him.

(3,259 posts)Not with Cult members.
Yes, Trump will become increasingly more unpopular in general, but the blind partisan Cult will remain forever faithful.

(43 posts)According to the Internet, Hitler had almost 100% support until after he committed suicide and his supporters realized the war was lost.
I don't see DJT offing himself, but neither does he have 100% support.
Question is how bad will it get before his fans start to turn. Unfortunately I believe a lot of them will hang on no matter what, and blame the Dems for everything.
I remember reading a story in a book I think was called "Worst Travel Stories Ever" about someone who stayed at a German farmhouse long after the war, and the farmers sat around in the evening playing old Hitler speeches and lamenting the past. I wonder if, 50 years from now, there will be old grey Magats listening to Trump speeches?

(2,828 posts)Their personal suffering is a badge of honor to them if it keeps black and brown people getting that secret welfare.
Many of the Christian right believe they suffer because they are the true children of God. As they believe in the divinity of Trump to some degree they'll happily sacrifice for his greater glory.

brought about by climate change.
IOW, there will be no system for repair

health care, travel, education, and
climate change disasters.

(6,047 posts)He will get a permanent mulligan from them-- they will talk about all the "good" he has done. Independents and others who are swing voters will abandon him if 1) the economy doesn't improve re: prices and 2) if he causes too much havoc with government programs they use.

(1,712 posts)I was supported by SSA survivor benefits with other family members. Congress with Reagan's pressure eliminated SSA Survivors benefits for those out of high school. I actually voted for Reagan when I was 19 in 1984. I joined the military to survive and get a Education fund from the military to attend college.
I was naive and didn't understand I was voting against my own best interest by voting for Reagan.
Soon the elderly on SSA & Medicare will find out what they voted for. A bunch of oligarchs that don't give a damn about them. Today people with AIDS in Africa found out that they will no longer get medication to survive.

(40,566 posts)At first I thought there were republicans & there was the cult, but the whole fucking party is cult. Repubs have always been lockstep, so I shouldn't be surprised that people I've known for years who appear to be decent, caring people still support this fucker.
