but apparently I have a few. Their posts immediately after the massacre didn't mention anything about the children or that this was a tragedy or anything along those lines. They jumped immediately to "don't blame guns" and "here come the self-righteous rants from the anti-gunners." No compassion.

This NY Times editorial said it pretty well. This stuff isn't happening out of nowhere. We are letting it happen by refusing to adjust our values and policies to meet the risks that a culture clinging to guns and outwardly angry pose.

For some,"freedom" is a fluid term.
