Sorry, I know I can call my Senators, & Representatives to say how much I am scared. I know I can protest, but ya know what?? Im just scared.....scared of what the hell is gonna happen with everything this once great country stood for. Ok, ok, stupid sounding pathetic love of country, but its gonna be ALL gone. I just cant come here anymore, I dont want to know any more of the shit that is changing this country. Im done. I love DU, gave a lot of hearts out......but I just cant come here anymore.

(5,899 posts)Several times a day I feel like I'm gonna "explode".
I said to Mr. Dahlia, I may have to sacrifice my sanity, but I am going to do everything I can to try and save our democracy. I don't want to leave a dystopian autocracy for my nephews and nieces and their munchkins. As long as I have ideas, I will keep plugging.
Cut yourself some slack, and let some of the rest of do the work of the resistance for a while.

(5,096 posts)I agree with others, just take a break and rest. Sleep will do wonders, it always does. Perhaps at some point, you can do ONE thing, and that's IF you are up to it. I mean something small. Call your reps office each morning with coffee. Tell them how you feel. That's it. If that's all you can do, that IS enough!
If not that, then feel peace that we have your back. None of us are alone in this. So many people are rising up and more to do so each day. As long as you can feel peace, you must.
For me personally, I feel better when I feel loss of control by doing something, anything. And what I can do is only small potatoes, compared to what others can do. I just remind myself constantly, that one tiny act of a million people are a million acts. I do believe our numbers are rising and will continue to. That's just me.
I hope you do well for yourself. Remember, you aren't alone.

(4,566 posts)I think were all scared. Its so scattershot overwhelming and coming so fast that its impossible to even process. Its a fking nightmare, a crime, and a catastrophe for this country. So, no wonder we feel panicked and need a respite.
Take a break and come back when youre ready.

All of our voices are needed (even me, though I suspect some people would prefer that I shut it forever).
Sometimes, you need to regroup, find ways to deal with the horror show around you.
Have a nice break.

If our parents generation let the overwhelming news give up and walk away, we wouldnt have anything worth fighting for. Please..just step back..click on to the heart warming videos that show kindness to others and animals ..it really does help. You are much loved here..we all need each other 🌺

(2,010 posts)I've been looking at some posts, recommended a few, but haven't been able to reply.
I have no words, or too many words, thoughts and feelings coursing through me since the election.
I've been a member here since 2017, I joined right after tsf took office because I needed a community that understood how dangerous he was. At this point I'm part of the dumfounded group; I can't believe he was elected. I tend to believe he stole the election. This community still knows how dangerous he is, but many of us are so deflated, and depressed, while many are fighting the good fight. That's part of why I still come here.
I've enjoyed some of the posts that offer levity during this horrible time. I don't watch TV, get my news from DU and various other sources. It's exhausting trying to keep up with all the things he's trying to ruin, and the legal battles being fought, let alone share any thoughts or feelings. Lurking is about all I could manage for the past 3 months.
I wish you well.

but change your routine and habits
Create new neuropathways in your mind, then reenforce them until they are part of your new thought/ behavior loop. Instead of what it is now.
You can totally do it. Start taking control of the settings on things like Google and you tube.
I personally am not keeping up with a lot of this because it is so triggering.
Be kind to yourself and know you are loved. I don't even know you but I want peace for you down to the molecular level of my being.
It's going to get better. And we can learn to make it through.

(553 posts)We are all scared to what is going on. Thats what they want you to feel.
so, turn off the news, stay off social media, and do things that give you peace... Take a vacation from all of this.
We will need you when you feel like you can cope again.
But make sure you take care of yourself first... be kind to yourself and understand that this will have to play out through the courts. And the good news is, Trump is losing in the courts...
We will survive this, and we will return to the once great country... gotta believe that!!!
we will miss ya... till next time,

(1,172 posts)I have been devastated too. I don't post here like I used to. I read subject lines, but I just can't delve into the awfulness or read the comments. But I don't want to lose my connection to this valuable community, so I have kept up with the pet forum and birders, I sent some hearts, and, in my own life, I am still doing my volunteer environmental work. Next week I am going on a Caribbean cruise, and I am hoping to gain back some strength. I admire you all who are able to keep putting one foot in front of the other, but some of us are still trying to initiate a slow crawl. A Kennedy, I wish you peace and healing.
