How in the Hell did we get here.

Last edited Sun Feb 9, 2025, 08:17 AM - Edit history (1)

Forty five years of republicans sucking the oxygen out of any attempts at progress some examples a woman’s choice to decide abortion or equal rights for our LGBTQ brothers and sisters or national healthcare.

All done hand in hand with angry whites and the evangelical splinter groups who want to transform our republic into a white nation or Jesus land.

I’m up drinking coffee reading news for the past week now i do try and read on the road yet on road in bunk on rest well as of now I'm rereading the Dune series it’s been probably forty years since i picked up Frank Herbert and i do see some similarities from reread to issues we have at this moment.

Sunday morning is my time to decompress and bring myself up to speed riding as a passenger on this train destination the total destruction of two hundred forty nine years of democracy.

And we’re not stopping at progressive station now sit down and read your Trump bibles printed in China the conductor yells.

And in doing so this morning I’m reading about Representative Sarah McBride and in how she was introduced on the house floor by the way good people of Delaware your aces in my book in voting for her now that is progress.

Yet how F…ing ignorant can you be well we all know how ignorant they are to give such an introduction as Mr. Mcbride.

Yet I’m reminded of the saying that we are all made in the image of God. And a conversation I once had with a good friend as we sat and ate M.R.E.’s leaning up against our 113 (113 is armor personnel carrier).

And listening to some chaplain give a sermon to those in the platoon who chose to worship and me personally i avoided those moments of worshipping why you because never trust a chaplain.

And the chaplain was rambling about how we are all made in the image of god. And my good friend article 15 that was his nickname his hobby collecting Article 15’s (U.C.M.J.) kicks my boot and asks me hey E-tool you hear that chaplain he said we’re all made in his image and that means god is a grunt.

What do you suppose he does and the conversation was all in humor god is probably the company first sergeant definitely a the top sergeant first shirt i replied and his boy is definitely the company clerk.

A dyslexic bad punctuation ramble yet if we’re all made in his image then perhaps this higher power is trans as well.

Grover Norquist, Rush Limbaugh, Pat Robertson, Newt Gingrich, Family Research Council, Heritage Foundation, FOX "News", Tea Party, Dennis Prager, Joe Rogan, Donald Trump, Project 2025, Elon... etc... looks like media, money, and (false) religion sprinkled with heaps of hate and fear.

At Wednesday’s rally, a middle-aged white guy spoke, saying it was wonderful to see such a diverse crowd together here in central Maine, and he started naming groups he saw there, waving toward the folks standing around him. Well the crowd was cheering along with him with “young and old and men and women and gay and straight and trans”, but when he got to naming ethnic groups and races there was a slight hesitation, because it, being in Maine, was a very very white crowd, but then (I am paraphrasing) he said “Because I am young and old and a man and woman and gay and straight and trans and Black and White and Native and Asian. You are, too! We all are! And we are all here together to stand up for each other and to fight the fascists together.”

It was a good speech among many that day.

Brian Herbert’s (Frank’s son) additions to Dune. They are more tactical than philosophical and fill in many of the gaps.

As Democrats, we are responsible for our choices. In '16 if we had all gotten out and voted for Hillary like it was our duty, Trump would have lost.
Here in Wisconsin, so many Democrats were so certain that Hillary would win they felt they were free to vote for a 3rd party candidate like Jill Stein of the Green Party who received more votes here than Trump's margin of victory.

Where were all the Democrats when Harris lost to Trump? Where did the 6 million more votes that Biden got in '20 but that Harris didn't get go?
Or am I to believe that there are Democrats who have a misogynist streak as well as a racist one in '24?

Well it could be too late now because I am doubtful we will be having free and fair midterm elections in '26. Trump, Musk, and maga already know those elections will not go well for them so their intention is to do what needs to finish off our democracy in these first 2 years.
