My brother didn't know he was part of the "deep state"

My brother works for the government and got one of those buy- out letters. He's basically an accountant, no political threat to Trump whatsoever. I've been kidding him that he is part of the deep state.

It's interesting knowing someone on the receiving end of this Project 2025 madness. One thing he told me is that morale in his office is very low. Even those who support Trump are having a hard time feeling good about what has been going on.

His intention is to keep working and not take the buy-out, but his life will be uncertain until everything is settled.

My new nickname for him (affectionately of course) is "Deep State".

My job is tied to Fed funding (DOE). We have some pretty hardcore MAGA at work and Friday was the first mention of this. They just don’t get the connection. Without going into details - their support of Trump makes absolutely no sense at all.

We do have a hard rule about discussing politics at work which I appreciate. This isn’t politics, this is our jobs.

These are the same people poo pooing COVID (as told to) in February 2020. I said every loudly “This is going to be WAY worse than a lot of people are taking this”. I didn’t want to make it directly at them, but it was. My wife was tracking numbers and her projections were dead on from the beginning and all the way through.

I used to want to work for the federal government but it was too hard to even get an interview, even though I was apparently qualified. Kind of glad at this point I never managed to.

So I settled for working for various states over the years. Easier and just fine as far as careers go. They hate us too, just not as deeply.

One is either a decent human being, or one is a Trump-humper. One cannot be both; they are mutually exclusive concepts.
