(18,567 posts)I think "bargaining" is 'way overrated in this country, both for prices of things and compensation. Basically, it's just a way for sharp operators to cheat and intimidate others. I don't see the attraction.

It wasnt that long ago (40 years) when I was asked in job interviews if I was going to have a family, or what my husband thought about me working. I was a manager in manufacturing.

(10,818 posts)Be it by skin colour, national origin, or religion. I'm not old enough to experience personally things like "No Irish need apply, No Catholics. No West Indians or darkies.". But old enough to be taught firsthand by others who did experience this.
And not just in employment... In housing too.
