There was great societal upheaval in the 60s and 70s

The antiwar protests, supreme court decisions on things like pornography, Miranda rights, legalizing abortion, Civil Rights Act, and so many other actions that really rocked the U.S.

But compared to what is being imposed now, which upheaval harmed more people?

I think it's an easy answer. I lived through the changes the 1960s brought. Most of the people I know had better lives. It still took personal strength and determination to prevail in some choices, but the changes from the top down made it easier to find a way to have personal success and satisfaction.

What is happening now is removing the social and legal structures that benefited so many Americans and will harm the U.S. overall.

In the past the U.S. moved in fits and starts toward a better union that attempted to share human rights with all. If something was allowed, if it helped you fine, use it. if it didn't help you, move on. We are going from a benign atmosphere to one that is being stripped of hope and flogged back to despair.

The MAGA world will be one where money wins, the object of life is to pass the money up the income scale, reality will be the sum total of all individual interests (spending patterns, labor, choices to the extent there are any). And even that doesn't begin to mention the coercion, the squeezing of the collective soul toward serving those at the top.

Back when P25 was 1st being discovered and passed around on the net, I downloaded a copy and began to read it , not word for word but checking out specific chapters on issues like Medicare , social security and others.
But in the foreword it states plainly that their mission was to reverse and replace all liberal and progressive policy that made up our government.

I had to abandon reading much further … i even deleted my copy bc I didn’t want it on my phone , but mainly because as I read it to myself I heard Hitler’s voice rebounding in my head … the one I’d heard from historic newsreels of his rallies .
It was haunting and apparently very fitting .

and the comic book copy, too

I'm hoping when the rwnj understand that there will be no exceptions or exemptions for the under 98% for any of this dracomian bs, that there will be a swing back to the center. It took Poland a decade tobegin a return from their stupid choices. I also hope that since the U.S. is so geographically large and socially diverse, a shift back to the center happens, but much sooner.
