As you should know, Putin’s overriding ambition is to regain the old borders of the USSR, as he has said he believes its breakup was the biggest catastrophe in history.

Ever since trump’s first term, I have thought that our (former) European allies really need to reassess and reconstitute the treaties that helped make the US so formidably powerful in the second half of the 20th century. Trump has made it clear he has no idea what NATO is for — the way he describes it is like a protection racket with other countries paying Trump to be bullied by him.

So what is the point in joining NATO at this time? What do you think? Trump has betrayed Zelinsky, as he will anyone who stands up to him. Other nations who don’t want this new world order must band together.

Admission must be unanimous and Turkey and Hungary are the likely no votes.

Also, the US leaving means NATO loses the bulk of its military strength and probably 95% of its heavy lift logistic capabilities. Also something like 90% of its nuclear weapons.
