I want to share just one persons heartbreak at receiving the news of his firing yesterday. I dont know Brian, but my heart goes out to him and his family. He posted this on his personal Facebook page.

Brians loss is our loss. It is the nations loss and it is going to have reverberations for years to come.
Will the next generation come to see the NPS as a place to live out their dreams and do the essential work that will preserve these sites for posterity. I have my doubts.
Ive heard through the grapevine that Gettysburg National Military Park lost three employees and that at another Civil War site, the entire interpretive staff was gutted. (I will share additional details about this as they become available.)
Events are already being cancelled. We are already seeing the impact of the firings here in Massachusetts, where we are getting ready to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Lexington and Concord. Minuteman National Historic Park, which oversees this history, has already cancelled one event in March due to lack of staffing.

(9,230 posts)They probably want to financially exploit the land, so the idea of having hundreds of millions of people visiting these parks is something they want to put an end to.

I'm convinced he wants to exploit all of them, nature be damned.

This needs to be read by every American so we can all ask, Is this really what we voted for?

(7,231 posts)"The good lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
We need to fire up the conviction of our elected Democratic leaders (Schumer, Jeffries, and others) who treat what's going on in our country like a case of flu, disagreeable but nothing life-threatening. They should give way to new leaders who'll start to take the ongoing coup d'etat seriously and lead the charge against it, nationwide. We need fighters, not hair-splitting lawyers.

(12,189 posts)as we sit here in front of our computers reading. Kevin Leven says this happened to roughly 1,000 Park Rangers.
Brian Gibbs x 1000. And this is happening to thousands of others in other fields of endeavor. Instead of creating
jobs, this "President" is eliminating jobs all across America. It is sickening to the core of my being that this is
happening in this country. I hope Brian finds gainful employment soon to sustain himself and his dear family.
So sad for all of our People.

(4,658 posts)The NPS offers affordable vacations for hardworking people. However, TPTB, dont want us to have the luxury of time off and affordable travel. Were the only 1st world country that doesnt allow specific periods of vacation and time off for certain life events. And thats how the upper class wants it to be .their slaves.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
