He's going to the Supreme Court

He's appealing to the SC because he wants them to allow him to fire the head of a government ethics watchdog agency.

It is really, really important for him to fire this particular head of an agency. Ethics is where he is going to put all his effort and political capital.

Guess it's obvious why.

Anyone have any hope that they will stand up to him?

It would be far more appropriate for Donny going to the Supreme Court on a happy day to appeal his own convictions. Ping Tung Feb 2025 #11

I believe they will not hear the case. The division will be 7 justices concurring, 2 dissents. Each dissenting opinion will be separate. 7-1-1

They will decline based on process.

This is a lot of smoke and mirrors that'll get quashed (think the Muslim ban). The reason why this feels different is because we don't even have the pretense of an opposition in Congress.

I think that the Supreme Court attempt to be very good stewards of their own power. They will not surrender as easily as the Congressional GOP.

decision, and the worse is say the sociopath can do anything he wants.

I think the odds are they will do the later.

SCOTUS would be irrelevant if they concur with him. As would Congress, and parts of the Constitution.

Trump's team goal is to overturn Humphrey’s Executor v. United States.

That 100% will happen with this scotus- might not be at this point in these case- but scotus could if I just wanted to get it out of the way.

Seems more likely for now they just move this back to District and rule on that after the trial fact.

But who knows

Interesting comment. Could you expand a little on the Humphrey's Executor v United States for those of us (like me) who aren't familiar?

In 1935 but basically restricts the president's power of removing certain executive officials.

There's a little bit of understanding of the presidents general authority over some of the executive cabinets as well.

There is a video about it here

There are at least 4 justices that have shown prior hints at overturning this- my guess is Trump will win at least 5-4 at one point, if not 6-3

We might see some of these TRO's and stuff held up in the meantime, but I'm 90% sure Trump gets this overturned at some point.

It is why some of the stuff has come up early.

And when he does, he will have much more unrestricted authority.

The level of danger here justifies a much more robust response from the media, the Dems and of course the R's.
