I need to travel to England. How long will it take to get a Visa?

I assume that travel is going to be more difficult.

Americans now need an ETA to travel to the UK, and will need similar to travel to any EU country by summer of this year.

It costs about $13 USD and can be done online.

U.S. citizens traveling to the United Kingdom for short visits, tourism, or business need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) as of January 8, 2025. It's pretty simple.

The UK started the ETA back in 2023 with middle eastern countries and has been expanding it ever since. It's not A US thing or a Trump thing, it'll eventually expand to nearly everyone.

I had to do this for my upcoming trip in May.

I will say that it was extremely easy to do on my phone and I received an approved authorization in less than 10 minutes.
