(5,287 posts)and am STILL waiting for any response at all (when they say that a month is 'normal', for starters...)
I was hoping for January, best case scenario.
I supposed it would be February, bad case scenario.
I hope for March but nothing is happening....
Meanwhile, I haven't been able to work,
and have been surviving since last June
by selling personal possessions on Ebay--
many of which I really did NOT want to part with.
If it takes until April, I may be in serious trouble--
running out of things to sell for which there would be much demand....
Been delaying my electric bill for many months, until I get a "shutoff notice",
and then sometimes negotiating with the utility--- but things are getting difficult...
(I'm on SNAP now, but my car is broke down and now unlicensed,
I get my food by hiking to Dollar General with a backpack
every day or every other day--- weather is terrible,
but the walking has actually done me some good, lol)
My application was submitted during the Biden administration,
but the transition has done nothing to give me any hope...
(I am quite entitiled to SS benefits, this just seems to be a massive failure of buerocracy to respond!!)

I applied 10/23 using the online application.
-Called after 90 days and was told that it now takes ~ 90 days. Called again after 110 days and the agent I spoke to was much more helpful. She could see that they had not done a thing with my application since it was submitted 😣. - Told me that nothing was wrong otherwise. She sent a message to Central Processing. They have 30 days in which to reply. So I continue to wait
.
I made an appt. at an SSA office 3/17 in case I dont hear anything in 30 days. Who knows, we may be in a government shutdown by then!!
I check My SS account daily & it remains @ stage II sitting in a Baltimore office
.
Hope you hear soon!! This is so wrong 😑.
*** Just checked- Im approved as of 12:08am !!
Will receive first check 3/12. 🤞🤞

(5,287 posts)(or in your bank account?)
My application was approved today also, but I saw nothing anywhere about any deposits sent.
Still, if I don't have to wait until my regular payment date almost a month from now,
THAT is great news! I would be due payments for January and February as well.
Jack Valentino
(5,287 posts)ever since. I called into their automated system once, but never figured out how to talk to a real person.
Well, my approval came through TODAY as well!!!! (from Chicago).
Jeez, if it takes 90 days, it would have helped me to know that at the time, right? They should update their **** website!
Relieved, now I just have to make it until the 3rd Wednesday in March, I guess, that's the payment date for my birthday.
Quakerfriend
(5,882 posts)for you!!! - Hope youll hold up ok until 3/3!
Im just so relieved for you. ❣️
Btw, if you had asked to start receiving checks in Jan. 25, for example, & you applied to have it deposited directly to your bank account, you should see in your My SS account a notice that the back payments were deposited into your bank account on the day you got approved.
Jack Valentino
(5,287 posts)but if payments for January and February will be pending immediately, as it appears happened with you, then everything will be good.
Quakerfriend
(5,882 posts)should see it there now. Its noted in your My SS account.
See view payment history and overpayment details
Jack Valentino
(5,287 posts)my application approval did not come until late morning today... I hope I am in the queue for the next payments at midnight or whenever the next payments are made.
Ahhhh, also it said on their approval statement
"We made a decision to approve your application on February 24, 2025."
which of course, hasn't happened yet---
so I guess it won't be official until Monday.
Quakerfriend
(5,882 posts)you should see that they have deposited the back payments for Jan. & Feb. on Monday. 😊

(15,492 posts)When I tried earlier this evening, I was able to log in and get through the page with the disclaimers, then bupkis -- just small text in the upper left corner telling me it was "Loading . . ."
When I try now, a few hours later, I can neither access my information nor sign out of the website. I keep getting a page that tells me "This service is not available at this time." I'm asked to then try again during regular service hours, which are posted, along with a couple of phone numbers.
Never seen this before. And who ever heard of a website being closed outside "regular service hours"?

I get that message every now and then and after I clear my cache and cookies I'm able to log in.
I've never accessed the site from my phone, so I don't know anything about that.

(5,287 posts)once it went on for days--- but it then seemed that it did not like my 'Brave' browser for some reason,
I went back to using Chrome for their site and it started working again.
However, I did get the exact same message again in the past few days. Weird, yeah,
but then it works during the day...
