"SNIP.........
Two of Sen. John Fettermans (D-PA) longest-serving staff members are leaving his team as the senator takes a more open approach to President Trump than many of his Democratic colleagues are, NBC News reports.

(157 posts)When asked about what she would say to the people who were working for Trump in his first term: "get out of there."

another one I wish would stroke out. Sorry, but he seems to be a traitor. It would be interesting to know their reasons for quitting. I doubt they will speak out though for fear of retaliation.

(6,670 posts)* but it's clear that if Conor Lamb had been our party's nominee, we would not be having this discussion (or anything like it) today. But, Lamb was accused of being too "establishment" and too "beholden to special interests" blah-blah-blah, etc, etc. The people who wanted someone to "shake things up" have apparently gotten what they wanted. It just goes to show that people should always be careful what they wish for, because they just might get it.
I'm confident that Fetterman will not serve a 2nd term.

(837 posts)Democratic officials/voters need a better vetting process with candidates.
How many times have the voters been burned?
You don't see this much if at all on the right but there's an overabundance of phonies on the left. We're talking Gabbard, Sinema, now Fetterman.

(448 posts)Lamb is from Western PA. CT McCormick has a house in Western PA. Philly democrats may not be happy about 2 senators from the Pittsburgh area. If Fetterman announces hes not running, that gives Lamb the chance to step right in and gain traction with the Democratic Party leaders in Philly.
Conor Lamb presented himself as quite the moderate. Honestly, Im not sure how that would play with the Democratic Party in 2028.

(10,328 posts)I think we progressives, need to start doing a better job vetting our fellow self-proclaimed progressives. Turner, Sinema, now Fetterman -- I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others...
For all the negative talk about """the Establishment,""" you can usually at least count on them to support Democratic policies and ideals, even if they don't promise the world and instead are more pragmatic...

(6,670 posts)The "uncommitted" project was a big mistake. That treachery cost us the election.

(448 posts)I know many of you live in PA like I do. In the last election, I know you saw what happened. Not only did trump win, but Bob Casey, a beloved figure in PA lost to a guy who lives in CT.
Hes just getting ready for the next election. Hell vote with the Democrats. He will just say and do a few things to make the republicans think hes switching parties, and make some liberals crazy. Hes not doing anything. This is a political calculation. PA didnt trend blue in the last election.
