What I'm sick of: Being kibbitzed about saying "fascist...Nazi...dictator..." - no, Jon STEWART.

Last edited Thu Feb 20, 2025, 01:30 AM - Edit history (4)

Those are *descriptives* about what's happening, not random/mindless/kneejerk insults. Will look for STEWART's latest crap.

*** ON EDIT, here 'tis:
***********QUOTE*******

https://www.yahoo.com/news/jon-stewart-defends-trump-against-192653376.html
Jon Stewart Defends Trump Against Fascist Claims: ‘What Would You F–king Do?’ | Video

.... “This is the cycle we find ourselves in. The first law of Trump-o-dynamics: Every action is met with a very not-equal overreaction, thus throwing off our ability to know when s–t is actually getting real,” Stewart explained. ....

He then proved his point again by showing intensely negative Democratic reactions to Trump’s pardoning of multiple people. “That is his constitutional power. Again, for some reason, we have given presidents the power of a king. And then we say, ‘Oh, by the way, with that power, you are not going to get all kingly and s–t on us right?'” Stewart said before breaking it down in simpler terms.

“Do not hate the player, hate the founding fathers,” Stewart added. ....

The Comedy Central host went on to criticize the political left for yelling fascist, calling it “almost a reflex.” ....

***ON EDIT, adding context from post below:

In my young days, I accepted his being a Lib at face value. I never followed his stuff, just what popped in my feeds. Then, feeling my way, went through a few years of confusion - like, I saw the CNN Crossfire when he threw a hissy fit. & some of us here claim he *only* attacked *ucker CARLSON - no, there was a flaming Lib present and the whole show got cancelled. I was flummocked, but bowed to the comedian-hitting-both-sides thing. But then he started "reaching out" to BecKKK and O'LOOFAH, and when BecKKK threw a so-called "unity" party on the Mall, STEWART followed up with a so-called Lib one that was just a semi-Hippie thing with soap bubbles and Rennaisance Fair thing and the Mythbusters dweebs, and (as much as we crap on MAHER) what MAHER said, "If you're going to have an event it needs to be ABOUT something." So STEWART tore himself for me, like is he Third Way or No Labels or what.

I recently learned "kibbitz." I used to absorb the meaning as "complaining," but Search tells me it means "giving unasked for advice." That's what he does. To everybody, but lots to US.

"I'm very big on- and I know it's annoying, but specificity and nuance," Stewart said. "And I think if you cry 'fascism' at every administrative overreach, even the ones that are constitutionally OK, you will find yourself out of fascism bullets when the time really comes."

Hit the nail on the head.

We’ve completely destroyed our verbal weapons by assigning them to everything. They are becoming meaningless and part of one big impotent tantrum that are being used constantly to the right.
