My 95 year old mom has been having some health issues lately. Hospital called just as I
was leaving for my daily visit and said I better get up there, she might not last the night.
Was healthy & active 3 weeks ago. All Democratic thoughts, prayers, vibes needed.
She goes by Betty
ON EDIT.......
Thank you all for the help, it did change her diagnosis timeline somewhat, unfortunately
she's headed to Hospice care for 3 days to 2 weeks. She had an amazing run getting up to
just shy of 96, very active in her church and loved getting up on the stage at the Senior
Center meal site everyday to tell the latest jokes she'd found. And never left a crossword
puzzle unfinished. Had hundreds of cats over the years at the farm. Always attributed
her long life to the many vitamins she took every day.
On the bright side she's looking forward to seeing my father and her 7 siblings she outlived.
And I'll miss her.
Thank you all for the kind words.
ON EDIT #2
Received call at 1:35 am to get back to the hospital, got there 4 minutes too late , she was
already hugging Dad upstairs.

My Sister, also named Betty, was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Frankfort, Kentucky yesterday.
I am sure we are all connected in this world, however much we may believe we are independent.

(5,805 posts)The Jewish prayer for healing uses the name of the person and their mom.
May the one who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah, bless and heal those who are ill [names]. May the Blessed Holy One be filled with compassion for their health to be restored and their strength to be revived. May God swiftly send them a complete renewal of body and spirit, and let us say, Amen.

Don't give up hope thought. My dad Murl, 92, had a catastrophic fall in mid-January and fractured his pelvis. I got THE call. I got the hugs and the sympathy from the nurses. He's alive and out of the wheelchair. He's pretty far gone in dementia, but we get a bit more time. I'll take it.
I hope you and Betty get a reprieve tonight.

Are you afraid
However could you not be
In this rosy light
This is strange
I feel a hand come through the mirror
Pointing at the light
Point at the light we never see
As you put your feathered arms over me
Before you leave
You must know you are beloved
And before you leave
Remember I was with you
And as you leave
I won't hold you back beloved

(1,791 posts)My mother will be 86 next month and overall she's in pretty good health. She has a bit of high blood presser, not terribly bad, and no other major injuries other than a bad knee she gets shots for. We just lost her only surviving sister to cancer the other week, now there's just Mama and her brother (younger than she is).
It's hard seeing your parents and other relatives move on. Big hug for you and all her family and friends.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
