this is the "honeymoon" period. this is the part of a presidency where people will say they approve of you even if they don't even know your name.

I think he might have polled over 50% literally once, the very first week. He's never been above 50% since.

Moreover, the percentage of people who *strongly* disapprove of him has always been massive compared to other presidents, except a few briefly during major scandals, such as Nixon right before he resigned.
