Philly Trump Fan Shocked to Be Fired by 'Wrecking Ball' DOGE

A Trump-voting Internal Revenue Service worker said he was shocked to be fired in the latest mass cull of federal employees by Elon Musk’s “wrecking ball” DOGE squad.

On Thursday, between 250 and 300 probationary IRS workers in Philadelphia were let go. Night-shift workers were reportedly slated to receive their lay-off letters Thursday evening. Union leader Alex Jay Berman said around 400 workers in total would be given the chop, NBC Philadelphia reported.

… snip …

One of those who was given his marching orders was Donald Trump voter Robert McCabe. He told NBC10 he was brutally let go when waiting for instructions on how to deal with a log-in issue.

… snip …

“You know when he talks about government waste and all that, yes, I’m behind it,” he said. “I believe there is a lot of stuff in the government that needs fixing. And that’s part of the reason why I actually wanted to work for the government, actually. To help change. Help change the things that are wrong in the world, you know?”

“I thought that someone with his business acumen would have come in with a fine-tooth comb and actually found it instead of coming in with a wrecking ball and destroying people’s lives for no reason.”

should run government. I don't know how you shake loose that mentality, even though it's never been proven to work.

What kind of a businessman Trump is is almost a secondary issue. Obviously he's way worse than most, but people in the business world simply don't understand how government is supposed to work (or they do, and just want a larger share of the pie for a few people at the top).

The Psychiatrists in the nation have openly stated that if all you do is watch FoxNews, and listen to RW radio, for ten years, and no other real news programs, you will be effectively Brainwashed.......And here we are...............

It is no small wonder the Republicans have tried to destroy public education for over 45+ years, and will for certain destroy it this time around. He has already eliminated the Dept of Education, and the cabinet position, I am pretty sure................

BTW, I noticed that yesterday DeJoy, who as the Director of the USPS resigned. He has worked intently on destroying the USPS for 6-8 years. Immediately, Trump declared himself the new Director of the USPS and fired all the commissioners of the USPS, putting himself as the director to finish off the USPS. Incidentally one of the largest group of Union workers in the entire nation. Reagan must be cheering him from the grave......
This will trash ALL OF RURAL AMERICA, ESPECIALLY IN RED STATES, big time........

The USA actually produces more food than it needs. So the government often buys the excess and sends it to nations in need. Now they are not doing that, facing the reality. The irony, they wanted the government to reduce "waste", in actuality, that is exactly what is happening.

As the old saying goes, be careful of what you ask for.....

I have no sympathy however, its willful ignorance and I doubt any have read Steinback's "Grapes of Wrath". In managing people, sometimes I've learned, you have to let them fail in order to learn.

You have to believe that the trade groups are raising their hands and saying "Excuse me!". And there are a lot of middle men that grow nothing but skim money off the process by selling equipment, seed, transport, processing and so on. Total volume of goods decreases so does their profit. I pity the famers as it is a tough and honorable life and we need them.

...they will nod yes with the trade groups, such as the Raisin Bargaining Association, go home and call them all a bunch of crooks. They will use all the water that is allotted to them, even if they don't need it, because in their view, if they don't use it all, they will get less next year and I can go on with numerous examples. Yes, its a hard life and those higher up are often screwing them over. But they comply. They think individually and often grow things that are not needed.

They are going to have to think harder about what they grow and how much. And maybe part of it is our own fault, mainly the GOP, they fight for these subsidies and keep rewarding bad behavior. I don't like it that its being done this way as there are better methods of approach, but putting cash in hand gets you re-elected despite the system needing a major overhaul and some regulation.

And maybe some of is our own fault for not addressing issues with ADM, John Deere, etc. They force thier operating costs to go up so the average farmer keeps chasing the quick buck to pay for it. Even if one farmer refused to use a new seed, he gets sued to hell by ADM and being accused of using his nieghbors excess seed of which is a violation of contract. It's a bad system that needs some serious regulation, but they voted to get rid of it.

Fri Feb 21, 2025, 12:41 PM
Feb 2025

Welcome to the FO stage, sir.

I've read (but haven't confirmed) that the number of federal employees, excluding uniformed military, is about the same today as it was during the Eisenhower administration. It went way up afterward, but has come back down as more government functions have been farmed out to contractors over the decades.

I have first hand insight in to federal employment at DoD, FAA and USPS. If anything, the federal government is understaffed. Fraud, waste and abuse is not at the federal employee level, but is at the acquisitions/contract level. The focus should be on Medicare/Medicaid fraud and on inflated, cost-plus style DoD contracts. We're almost a $1T for a yearly defense budget. You can't tell me there ain't more low hanging fruit for cutting there than there is in the federal workforce.

Cutting probationary employees is a way to save a small amount up front, but will have dire consequences in the future because you're cutting out future experienced workers from the pipeline. This can't be interpreted as anything other than an agenda to destroy the federal government. I mean that literally. I don't know to what end. But we're in for a bad time for us, our children, grandchildren and future generations if smart opposition forces don't line up and get on the stick now and begin some serious pushback.

I know that Democrats are powerless to impeach, pass legislation or do anything immediately to stop the runaway train of destruction. But, they could start suing and moving this up the line toward the supreme court. They could be lots more active on TV and putting out statements. They could be out there coalition-building with like-minded organizations and flexing soft power. They need to be making noise. They must get the long game rolling. Republicans have been patiently working on this since Reagan, and look where they are today.
