Al's doctor ordered a CT scan to see what might be causing the severe pain in his lower back.
I had thought it may be a kidney stone, which could be serious given that he recently had his prostate removed and a large kidney stone could threaten his reconstructed urinary tract.
But Al actually saw the doctor who definitely told him he did NOT have a kidney stone (although he DOES have a UT infection).
Al just called from the hospital. Technician who took the scan told him there's a possibility he may be admitted--but she did not indicate what for.
She said she took what's called a "wet scan" that the doctors at the hospital will read it and report to Al's doctor who will decide if he needs to be admitted.
So if they're NOT looking for a kidney stone, what the HELL are they looking for?
His post-op visits w/ the urology surgeon went well. Despite the UTI, the surgeon indicated his recovery was on schedule.
I should have gone w/ him to his appointment yesterday. I would have made sure to ask what all of this is about.
Anyway... if you can spare some vibes or some prayers, I'd appreciate it.

(72,531 posts)... in 2019. I've had three serious UTIs since that were difficult to figure out where the infect exactly was. Twice just before developing cellulitis.
What really helped me was increasing water intake and walking more. And some serious antibiotics. They'll figure it out and it will get better.
He's obviously survived worse than this and with you advocating for him and giving support, how will this thing not pass?
