Mills then replied, "See you in court."
"Good, I'll see you in court," Trump said. "I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after governor, because I don't think you'll be in elected politics."
After the exchange, Mills released a statement saying, "If the President attempts to unilaterally deprive Maine school children of the benefit of Federal funding, my Administration and the Attorney General will take all appropriate and necessary legal action to restore that funding and the academic opportunity it provides. The State of Maine will not be intimidated by the President's threats."
The Trump administration argues that Title IX, the statute that prevents sex discrimination in education programs that receive federal funding, requires the government to "take all appropriate action to affirmatively protect all-female athletic opportunities and all-female locker rooms."

(7,906 posts)and anyone who wants to meet with him, already calling him "king" and, once again, literally kissing the ring. Hubby makes no bones any longer. When we're together and crap like this comes out, he just says Someone has to take him out. Luckily, he keeps it just between the two of us. It's to the point now you're almost afraid to open your mouth in public any longer.

(875 posts)I totally agree, but I would rather by natural causes. Unless, and until, he is stopped by the courts I don't see any way out. Hope I am wrong.

(618 posts)If Governor Mills had been a male, would he have called him out in the same, confrontational way? Knowing the long history of Trump's fights with female reporters and politicians who have shown the courage to stand up to him, I don't think so.

I have known a bunch of these nut jobs.
Cowards. Every one of them. One of the reasons they are afraid of everything

(19,902 posts)whereas they were always the uncivil. They were the ones who liked to bomb churches with kids inside. They like to lynch people. So they built a party around their viewpoint.
Everything was fine until they got a tv network behind them and found out that they were not the only ones who HATED every living thing on Earth. Everything was fine until they found others who were like minded.

Look at ALL the women he has chosen to surround himself with.....All visited the plastic surgery docs, got the pre-requisite "Republican Rack", got the hairdresser to do their hair like Melanoma's. and purchased fashionable knee pads to kneel down and kiss his ring....
Because back when he was a teenager or young creep, no woman would go out on a date with him unless she was paid. Same for all his "marriages".......

(22,590 posts)The Constitution? It's no longer in force. Businesses won't do it? You will or you won't do business in our states. Our states are where the disposable income is. It sure as hell isn't in Mississhity and West Virginy.

(13,003 posts)that the gears are already turning, but they will wait until after April 15th and everyone has filed.........
If I was still had self employed income, I would file for an "extension" on this years quarterly estimated taxes, and send no estimated taxes, and just wait and see.........Sadly anyone working for someone else, and just collecting "wages" has the money withheld and sent in to the Feds.............(of course, this year, the Corporations may just withhold it, and then hold on to it, to see what develops)
Trump will soon abandon the United States of America, and title our nation: the United Corporations of America, or better yet,
the FASCIST CORPORATIONS OF AMERICA......

By saying, keeping you out of Maine would be the first step in protecting our female athletes so that you dont grab them by the who-who.

(14,056 posts)I'm not sure how many people you can persuade with cautionary tales from a history no one knows, whether it is the history of the Nazis or even the history of the American dirtbags who wanted to march in Illinois a few decades later. I would even argue that both of those lessons are of little use in the modern world. It moves too fast, it's too superficial, and its rhetoric is fueled by an information volume and velocity that completely puts previous eras to shame.
We need to be "based." This absurd fight over Title IX, for example, is something I would say the Dem rank-and-file probably doesn't want prioritized. To say the least. Our leaders, if they are going to fight for things like federal school funds, reproductive freedom, Medicaid, and so forth, need to lead with those issues. We don't need to let Trump and Musk laugh at us and goad us into punching their fists with our faces.
And I love Pritzker and Illinois in general, btw. This is not a criticism of them!
