Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) drew more than 3,400 people in Omaha, Nebraska with an additional 190,000 watching his fight oligarchy rally on a livestream.

According to the Sanders political team, the venue exceeded its capacity of 2,600 and 800 people had to watch from an overflow room.

Sen. Sanders announced the crowd size, “Let me thank the more than 3,400 people of Omaha who joined us tonight to stand together in the fight against oligarchy and authoritarianism. Together, we can stop the Republicans from gutting Medicaid, cutting taxes for the ultra-wealthy, and passing a reconciliation bill that encapsulates the value system of greed."

“We are living in two Americas,” said Sanders. “What we do now will impact our lives. [Americans] need a grassroots movement that says no to oligarchy.”

‘I needed hope’
Kitty Brougham, 65, of Omaha was among those cheering at the Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District.

She said she wanted to attend the event because she was losing hope. She is the mother of Sammie Peterson, 24, a transgender woman, and is worried for her future.

“I am watching my country be taken away from me,” said Brougham. “I needed hope.”

Sabrina Larson, 36, and her baby Berkley were in town for a state wrestling tournament and she wanted to hear what Sanders had to say about agricultural policies. Larson, of the Raymond area of Lancaster County, works for a livestock company and worries that Trump’s policies could harm the farming community in Nebraska.

Iris Evans, 80, from Council Bluffs has been a Democrat since Bill Clinton was president. She expressed anger about the current administration’s way of leadership.

“I want to see a movement to get rid of Trump … I am angry,” said a tearful Evans. “They took my world away and I want it back. I am here because I care about our country. I pray for our country every single night.”

Love this guy! We really need some young people to step up and champion for the average people.... Bernie's getting older, but thank goodness hes still fighting!!!

Dem leadership could definitely take a page from his playbook.

reaches older white people too. There aren’t many with those special credibility qualities. I wish there were because we need more doing this. AOC has been out in NY but as much as I love her, she isn’t going to reach R leaning older white rural men like Bernie does. But we definitely need to find more spokespeople to get out on the road like this. Andy Beshear would be a good one. Tim Walz as well. I think they have the credibility to reach the people Bernie is targeting.
