I watched with amusement as you made your yearly pilgrimages to Victor Orban's Hungary to study "Authoritarianism Under Color of Law". Hell, you even took your CPAC traveling Clownshow over there to learn how to Nazify "under color of law".
This ain't Hungary!
Hungary, with the GDP of Alabama, the military out of the Sears Catalog and the global impact of flea farting in a hurricane, seems a poor choice to study the destruction of American DEMOCRACY! It's kinda' like studying Latin to learn Calculus.
This ain't Hungary!
Hungarian "democracy" was a mere 24 years old when Orban got his grubby little cock-tongs on it. 40 years ago, Hungary was a Soviet Puppet State. 80 years ago, Hungary was a Nazi collaborating state. 90 years ago, they were ruled by a king.
Hungary is 93% "White" Hungarian. Despite your best efforts, America will NEVER be 93% "white". There is simply too much diversity, history and lived experiences to ever get Americans to all sing from the same hymnal.
Even where Orban has had success, there are millions in Hungary opposed to him. His time will come, and it will come as it always does for authoritarian dipshits. In an unmarked grave, or chewing on a Luger like Hitler.
This ain't Hungary!
Donnie Dipshit can fire all the Admirals and Generals he wants, but he will need to dig deep under the rocks to find a worm that will do his bidding. He will need to dig deeper into the raw sewage to find a Lieutenant, Captain, Chief Petty Officer, Gunny Sargent, Corporal, or Private that would carry out that bidding. America isn't powerful because of its military. The American military is powerful because of its democracy.
This ain't Hungary!
I know you must feel invincible now. You've stacked the Supreme Court with sycophants, hold the House, the Senate and the White House, but you're nothing but posers.
Some of you have the power to step up and put the brakes on this shitshow, but rest assured, you will face the hellfire of history if you don't.
Even in places where you've solidified power, like Alabama, West Virginia, Florida...there are millions opposed to you that will NEVER accept your distopian, authoritarian rule.
This ain't Hungary!
We have a 250 year history of defending, supporting, advancing and perfecting our DEMOCRACY. This is America!

(17,325 posts)Donnie Dipshit could dismantle every news organization in this country, and like a hydra, two new ones with sprout up in their place. (Some of us might even be OK with that).
The resistance is going to come from EVERYWHERE!
From a town clerk in Peoria, IL, to a teacher in Albuquerque, to an office manager in Visalia, CA.
These authoritarian dipshits are NOT as "powerful" as they would like you to believe.
You know how I know that?
Because they keep shouting about how "great and powerful" they are.
I expect the shit to hit the fan soon.
They think they are just impacting 50K federal employees, but those people have families. They have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and grandchildren. They have neighbors and coworkers and fellow parishioners and bowling teams and friends and shipmates. They are veterans, disabled veterans, Gold Star families, heroes of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Purple Heart recipients, Bronze and Silver Star holders, spouses of veterans, spouses of doctors, lawyers, mechanics, plumbers, accountants, retail workers, deliver drivers, truck drivers... etc.
These stories need to be told and heard!
If I were the Democratic Party, I would create a simple link where people can tell how their lives have been ripped apart, and I would dare the press not to report them.

(24,735 posts)decades. It's a Herculean task. Look at how churchgoers don't want to know about what they've reading. Unfortunately, we have way too many lazy brains. I wish I could design the curriculum in history and govt for high schoolers! In fact, we need to redesign our school days, allowing more time for writing and reading since so many kids are plagiarizing and using AI instead of thinking. When culture changes as much as ours has, training for it needs to adapt.
