They breathlessly regurgitated what Glenn Beck told them about Soros, as if he were the only one. I had to point out to people that between the Koch Brothers and Seldon Adelson, they had five times the resources of Soros, and the Kochs had been "investing" in political influence and outright meddling far more directly and for far longer than anything Soros had done. And that was just three people, but there were even more, heirs to the founders of household-name companies who had plenty of unearned money and a willingness to use it to rearrange the world to their liking.

Typically, they'd never heard of any of these people, and so my bringing them up out of (to them) nowhere was all the more reason to simply dismiss it all.
