Trump shuts down US base in Greece at request of Putin & Erdogan

https://defence-blog.com/trump-shuts-down-us-base-in-greece/

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly ordered the shutdown of the U.S. military base in Alexandroupoli, Greece, according to Greek newspaper Dimokratia.

The decision marked a shift in U.S. military strategy in the region and raised concerns among Greek officials.

The base in Alexandroupoli has been a key logistical hub for U.S. and NATO operations in southeastern Europe. Its presence had been a point of contention, particularly with Turkey, which has long opposed U.S. military operations in the region.

According to Greek media, Trump’s decision to dismantle the military presence in Alexandroupoli came after a joint request from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

As noted by the Greek newspaper, if confirmed, the move represents a diplomatic concession that could alter the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Greek press reports highlight that the closure is seen as a strategic loss for Greece, which has strengthened military ties with the U.S. in recent years. The Alexandroupoli base played a role in regional security and military logistics, particularly in supporting NATO’s presence in Eastern Europe.

The Trump administration has yet to officially comment on the reports, and it remains unclear whether the decision will be permanent or part of a broader realignment of U.S. military assets.

Who else is a Russian agent/asset in DC?

I think we can get a fairly accurate list.

One part of the list contains some of Putin's favorite type US politicians.
Putin loves to install and pay people who are buffoons, stupid, pull constant PR stunts.
He loves to embarrass the US and make us look ridiculous and foolish.
Prove to the world that democracy is a failed form of government.

Then we have the Yale and Harvard attorneys who sounds like they did not pass 3rd grade.
And certainly have no understanding of the law whatsoever.

And then a group of people who obviously have something to hide.
And flip flop every week.

To create civil wars, to take over countries, to create the refugee crisis which floods Europe and the US. Then he gets his puppets to run on the immigrant issue and win. This is how he wins in the US and Europe.

I wonder how many of the US billionaires have had help from Putin?

The fact that every single foreign policy decision since Trump returned to office aligns completely with the goals of Putin SHOULD be enough to convince the country that Trump isn't acting in our best interests. We are quickly approaching a point where traditional US foreign policy is irrevocably ruined because of the actions of the orange menace.

ALEXANDROUPOLIS, Greece – The Port of Alexandroupolis cemented another key moment for sustainment history as it facilitated the reception, staging, and onward movement of the first “heavy” brigade in Greece March 11, 2024. The 16th Sustainment Brigade and 598th

Transportation Brigade, with the help of Hellenic and Greek Allies, moved approximately 3,000 pieces of equipment off the cargo vessel Leroy A. Mendoca for the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division’s rotational deployment in Europe.

"24 Feb, 17:12
US considers feasibility of military base in Greece's Alexandroupolis — newspaper
The potential closure of the Alexandroupolis base would please Ankara, which has called for its immediate removal
ATHENS, February 24. /TASS/. The US administration has ordered an urgent assessment of the feasibility of a military base in Alexandroupolis, Greece, which the Greek government allocated to the Biden administration for arms transfers to Ukraine and actions against Russia, according to the Greek newspaper Dimokratia.

The newspaper reports that, as direct negotiations between US and Russian delegations regarding Ukraine have been deemed productive, the Trump administration is no longer planning to send equipment and personnel to Ukraine. Consequently, the Alexandroupolis base may be considered unnecessary. This decision would align with Russian interests, as the presence of the base has led Russia to categorize Greece as a hostile nation, the daily adds.

The potential closure of the Alexandroupolis base would please Ankara, which has called for its immediate removal. The base has undermined Turkey's monopoly over the Bosporus Strait. Its closure would restore Turkey's absolute control over the entry and exit of military and merchant vessels to and from the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea.

The Greek government initially welcomed the establishment of the Alexandroupolis base, viewing it as a tangible contribution to the war in Ukraine and a sign of Washington's trust in Greece. Furthermore, the base has provided a protective shield for Athens against any potential Turkish ambitions in the Evros region, according to Dimokratia."

On further paragraph at link (the kast paragraph in the article) describes what TASS sees as Greece's choices.
