TWICE I have tried to set up an account, and neither time has been successful. "Support" has promised to get back to me, and they never have. I guess I can live without the damn thing, although I would kinda like to be on it just to see what's happening. I have a food community on Threads but that's more of a support system and not that political. BlueSky should NOT make it so hard to sign up!

(35,176 posts)I don't really know because I have not looked at it. I spend too much time here and feel totally covered as far as information goes...I still am curious. That is the killer. I have too much to do to spend any more time. DU is home and has been for so many years I don't remember. I won't leave here so....

I dont remember how I created the account.
If you liked twitter in the past it is similar to pre elon twitter.
Best wishes. !

(931 posts)It started out very liberal friendly. It would call out, remove, and ban right wing lies, bombastic conservatives. But I've seen them use it against left leaning liberal posts too they considered "misinformation".
Just read the TOS and don't cross it. They are pretty quick to use the ban hammer.

(40,853 posts)I've lost respect for anyone who is still using the site formerly known as twitter, I cringe every time I see people posting from that site here.
Participating on these social media sites, even DU, does not make one politically active.
We are in our "documentary moment" and it's time to be brave, as Jane Fonda pointed out in her SAG speech.

I finally managed to change it via my phone!
This indicates that there is a "software bug"
Support is truly lacking.
Sorry about what happened with you.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
