(13,756 posts)It's truly sad to see MSNBC/Comcast kowtowing to the oligarchic patriarchy!

(38,878 posts)"... We are increasing live programming by two hours on the weekends. Soon, we will announce a new trio of co-hosts for The Weekend, which will include MSNBC host and The Washington Posts Jonathan Capehart. We will also introduce an evening edition of the program, hosted by a different group of anchors, including veteran MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin. We will have more to share in the weeks ahead.
Ali Velshi will also expand his namesake program, Velshi to three hours on the weekends."

(258,937 posts)They worked so well together. I'm not really so fond of Jonathan Capehart. And Ayman does just fine by himself, I liked his weekend show, too.

(3,271 posts)To be fair, she does enunciate extremely well, which makes her a good newsreader, but she tends to reply to serious comments with yeah, uh huh unless her producer feeds something in her ear. I have worse things to say about her, but Ill refrain.
Fortunately, theres usually a game on so I can change the channel.
So, 5am until 4 pm is no go

(114,716 posts)I can't believe they don't give Ali Velshi a weekday show if they are that determined to shake things up. He is great...
They are just bound and determined to lose all their ratings in obeisance to Trump.

(2,145 posts)Literally all three people they replaced Reids time slot with are POC.
Claiming this as racist is just too much.

(12,763 posts)Nothing on MSNBC is watchable for me before 4 p.m. on weekdays. On weekends, I liked The Weekend and Velshi, but I'm not sure about TheWeekend now.

He's had a time slot in the morning. Hope he's still in the line-up.

(2,058 posts)I really like him! I Really liked when he closed his broadcast he would extend his hand and say "Thank you for the privilege of your time". Good people are being let go and Trump and Elon are still in power.
Thanks for the info.

(41,108 posts)And
on sacking Joy. She was one of my faves. I ditched MSNBC after the election, out of depression more than anything, but I don't see signing up for it again.

(14,624 posts)Maybe it's the time slot, but she is already starting to look like (shudder) Andrea Mitchell.

(2,602 posts)There was a time when I liked Katy Tur, but that time has passed. That smirk is insufferable, especially when defending Trump. And I have no idea what Alex Witt adds to the lineup. I dont find her actively offensive, but she asks the dumbest questions.
And Alex nitwit. Cannot stand either and I have not watched them since Biden ran for president in 2020.

(38,878 posts)Will be interesting to see what happens there.
Melissa Murray is a very good guest, but I dont think that she can carry a show. Shes too cerebral (hate writing that) and I wouldnt call her exciting. Ive only seen Eugene Daniels a few times, but I had a visceral negative reaction to him. He struck me as a real lightweight. Hes certainly no Elie Mystal. That man is brilliant, extremely charismatic, forthright and bold, and very entertaining. Now that would be must see TV. Jason Johnson would be a good choice as well.

(5,455 posts)Jonathan Lemire? Not that I ever watched MSNBC that early and stopped listening to Morning Joe after they went to Maralago to kiss Dumpy's orange butt. Did Lemire get canned?
