(31,906 posts)do not need to become US Citizens...
They have many options for their citizenship... usually in places that don't require you physically live there.
What is the advantage to becoming a US Citizen for these highly productive people?
OTOH, there are governments who might want to fund some people to buy a US Citizenship for any number of reasons related to their employment once IN the USA. A lot of jobs that are currently "NOFORN" as in no foreign ( even green card ) citizens may apply or hold these jobs. So if you wanted to work at a company that is creating MLS software for the DOD or CIA or NSA... but you are a Russian or Chinese citizen...
Just a thought.

No doubt that 100% would go to paying off the debt

(10,336 posts)Plus, if someone can afford that sort of money, they are doing pretty damn good wherever it is they live already, and I doubt they want to subject themselves and their amassed wealth earned elsewhere to taxes in the US.
But if they were still insistent on becoming a US citizen for some reason, they could take a fraction of that price and pay a good immigration attorney to run them through the regular process in no time flat.
Just another one of the dipshit's stupid ideas.
