That is pretty easy to miss. Pretty mild reaction.

Sens. Lindsey Graham, Chris Coons, and Amy Klobuchar and other Democratic and Republican senators gathered for an hourlong "encouraging" meeting with Zelenskyy ahead of his visit to the White House, the three lawmakers posted on their social media accounts.

After Zelenskyy's fiery exchange with Trump and Vance in the Oval Office, Klobuchar and Coons defended the Ukrainian president on X -- particularly the moment where Vance accused Zelensky of being "disrespectful" toward his American hosts.

"Answer to Vance: Zelenskyy has thanked our country over and over again both privately and publicly. And our country thanks HIM and the Ukrainian patriots who have stood up to a dictator, buried their own & stopped Putin from marching right into the rest of Europe. Shame on you," Klobuchar wrote.

“What we just witnessed between Donald Trump, JD Vance, and President Zelenskyy inside the White House was an ambush. It was a planned ambush designed to embarrass President Zelenskyy in order to benefit Vladimir Putin.” - Sen. Chris Murphy

“The behavior of President Trump and Vice President Vance towards President Zelensky is shocking, disrespectful, and un-American” - Rep. Diana Degette

“Today, I watched in horror as Trump and Vance shamefully echoed Kremlin propaganda to the leader of our ally, Ukraine." - Rep. Jerry Nadler

"It's distressing to see that the president of the United States is walking away from our commitment in Ukraine, and doesn't seem to understand what a murderous dictator Vladimir Putin is." - Sen. Jeanne Shaheen

“This is not diplomacy. This is closer to a tantrum. Trump and Vance berating our allies like (Zelenskyy) while cozying up to dictators like Putin, is a disgrace but not a surprise.”- Rep. LaMonica McIver

"Donald Trump is embarrassing the United States on the world stage. We are a country that stands up to dictators and fights for democracy. Minnesota stands firmly with our allies in Ukraine." — Governor Tim Walz

“Absolute admiration for President Zelenskyy. The guy has balls. He went into the Oval Office and stood up to Russia’s best negotiators.” - Rep. Eric Swalwell

“Let’s cut to the chase: The president of the United States is a coward who is Vladimir Putin’s puppet,” Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton, a Marine Corps officer, told CNN. “And the vice president of the United States is a pogue and a coward who is Donald Trump’s puppet.” “Whether you voted for these puppets or not, just as an American, as a fellow American, it’s just embarrassing that the only hero in the Oval Office, the only decent human being, for that matter, is the Ukrainian,” Moulton said. “I mean, this administration is going to go down as an embarrassment in American history.”

“A sickening, appalling, dark day in American history,” said Democratic congresswoman Yassamin Ansari. “Trump and Vance are fundamentally transforming the United States in the most horrific ways — now clearly a fascist, authoritarian oligarchy that abandons our longstanding allies in support of the world’s worst dictators.”

Democratic Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs committee, said he watched “the supposed leader of the free world throw a temper tantrum in the Oval Office.” Trump’s behavior “is just the latest in a string of alarming gestures” towards Putin in “a dangerous pattern of deference to a dictator who seeks to undermine democracy worldwide,” Meeks said.

Democratic Senator Jack Reed, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, called the meeting a “political ambush and a shameful failure of American leadership.” “President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine are fighting for their very lives and existence,” he said. “Unlike Donald Trump or JD Vance, I have traveled to Ukraine and seen firsthand the death and destruction wrought by Vladimir Putin against innocent people. To mock Ukraine and our allies is a travesty that only benefits Putin.”

Most elected Democrats have spoken out. Unfortunately, The media is generally ignoring them.

The US will cease to be a world power. The US military-industrial complex will whither.

The new NATO will have to defend itself against Russia. If Russia is not stopped in Ukraine, NATO will be fighting Russia on its own soil. The economies of Europe will have to shift to a war-time footing.

World war seems inevitable. Russia will eventually be stopped, its economy cannot sustain a war against Europe. But the costs in blood and treasure will be staggering.

I sure thought so! The attack or ambush was so poorly performed, and was obvious it'd been pre-planned for the benefit of a very small, select audience. I also think a good number of Americans - a majority - were also repulsed by the phony staged fight.

It was a failure for the Felonious Fool and his silly sidekick shady...
