They aren't :too big to fail and you can buy their stuff in many other places. If they go under, then others will notice.

Our success comes when they look at the proceeds from today and see a big dip. They'll definitely notice that.
Anecdotally from DUers observations, today was business as usual in deep red areas, but in other places it seems like very few people were shopping. That will definitely show up as a scary moment for them on their balance sheets and trend lines.
I think it sounds like today was pretty successful.

(7,797 posts)and publicize the hell out of it. It's too easy to skip a day and buy or buy something a day before. Not sure we are really affecting the bottom line with just a day.
