Republicans change their stances within a matter of minutes.

After showering President Zelenskyy with praise and calling him a hero one minute, the next minute they are saying he disgraced the Oval Office and should apologize to Donald Trump?

They are disturbed. They are beyond help. They are slowly marching into the bunker with Trump, They have made the decision to stay with Donald Trump until the bitter end. And it is going to be bitter.

In their hearts, they probably know that, but peer pressure from the Party is more than they dare to challenge.

They now know that embracing Donald Trump is also embracing Vladimir Putin, the ruthless dictator that imvades his neighbors and kidnaps their children and kills their citizens. That is the choice they have made.

They cannot turn back. They are too far gone.

They want what Putin has in Russia.
Permanent, total control and power.
And access to all national assets and resources.

The GOP thought it was so clever to align with Putin.
It was all a slam dunk for them.

Now they realize they have to pay the piper.
Putin expects repayment and will kill them without blinking an eye if they cross him.
He expects their total loyalty to him and Russia.

The thing that is most humorous to me is the insane amount of stupidity of the Repub Senators and Members of the House, as well as the USSC Republicans..........They all are trying soooo hard to buddy buddy up to Trump, not realizing that in a Tyranny, there is no legislative branch or judicial branch needed. His voters are all beginning to realize that they are no longer needed because there will never again by a fair election, and all of either have been thrown under the bus or soon will be.......When you outgrow you usefulness, you are cast aside........just like everyone else in Trump's entire life.....

The only thing the GOP Congress can hope for is more election rigging.

to make the government permanently Republican so they can remain in power. But in so doing they give up their power. Is defeating Democratic policies and giving more money to billionaires really worth death threats if they ever consider an independent vote of conscience?

They are clearly gambling that the autocracy will win, and going along with it is the only way to survive. But if it the autocracy succeeds, they will be asked to rubber stamp more and more horrible things. And by the time even they can't stomach it, there will be no way out.

And of course election rigging and control of the voting process like had been already happening for them.

They thought if they voted in lockstep they would be spared the diabolical treatment
they dished out to Dems.

But now they are just useless rubber stamps who get death threats.

Maybe on a smaller scale. And Europe continues to provide Ukraine with the help they need to defend against Putin.

When Putin threatens to escalate, the need to call his threat and prepare for war. If they give in to Putin, he won't stop. And the US will do nothing.

Russia's military is a mess. The rest of Europe has 80 years of NATO training under its belt. I think they could make quick work of Russia.

Putin will threaten nukes. But one nuke from him ends it all.

Sat Mar 1, 2025, 09:51 AM

They know that Trump is abandoning our NATO allies to align the United States with the Russian dictator, and all but the dumbest of them could see the televised performance in the Oval Office for what it was intended to do -- put an end to any pretense of helping Ukraine, then blame the ruined relationship on Zelensky.

I loathed Ronald Reagan, but he at least opposed the "Evil Empire" as did both the Republican and Democratic parties for generations. America as leader of the free world was was something to be proud of, and invest in.

Not any longer, for the Republican Party. Did their transformation happen overnight, out of pure cowardice?

I will argue it did not. For years now the Republican Party and CPAC have fawned over Hungary's autocrat Victor Orban, and embraced his repressive regime as a model for the United States government.

Republicans have known for a long time, and sometimes openly acknowledged, that they can't win national elections when more people vote. Red states have pushed gerrymandering and voter suppression as far as the courts will allow, and the Supreme Court is firmly in their hands.

For their own political careers and for the oligarchs who fund their campaigns, Republicans have for decades rejected the highest ideals of America's Founding.

Their support for the dictator sitting in the White House and the unconstitutional actions of his billionaire henchman is not entirely a cowardly submission. They have long wanted to destroy regulatory agencies and social programs which benefit the American people, which is now being accomplished at breakneck pace.

The Republican Party has steadily progressed towards authoritarianism, which ideologically aligns them with the Russian dictator.

... has always been a central tenet of the Republican belief system. They just learned to mask it after getting slapped down hard when they made the mistake of trying to recruit retired Major General Smedley Butler to do the wetwork for their coup d'etat against FDR in '33, I think it was. Butler dropped a dime on 'em.
If the perpetrators had suffered the punishment they deserved, the brazen treachery to which the nation is now being subjected might not have come to pass. Legend has it that Dubya's grandpappy was one of the scumbags, but a lot of history gets whitewashed when it threatens to expose the breadth and depth of the ingrained perfidy of those defiling the top of the financial food chain. Prescott Bush reportedly got into trouble for doing business with Germany through a Dutch bank during the war.

.... on Wall Street. Prescott Bush hooked up with Herbert Walker who became his investment banking partner. One of their largest clients was Adolph Hitler, Mother Germany, the plunderings from WWII.

Prescott Bush eventually married George Walker's daughter. Their first son in honor of the grandfather, was named George Herbert Walker Bush.

They eventually got found out that they were proping up Germany/Hitler.
We're nearly charged with trading with the enemy. Their investment bank was shutdown with German funds confiscated by the government.

Prescott Bush and his buddies pooled their ill be gotten wealth and used the funds to buy young Prescott Bush a seat at the U S Congress as member of the Senate.

All of them - his congress suckups, my local republinuts, my siblings, my friends (even in the Arts community) i hope their end in this shit is bitter as can be, I hope to survive, but for all who have contributed to this fascist and criminal and treasonous fiasco, I have not an ounce of care left.
