(5,440 posts)Dr. Morris, who is a retired History professor who was very knowledgeable about Russian History, also had a theory about nuclear weapons.
He told us he highly doubted despite the nuclear build up that the U.S., Russia, China or the rest of Europe would ever use them because to put it bluntly their motive in wars is almost always greed and power. The really would not want to destroy natural resources, human resources, or the technology the other country has, because they wanted to control those things for their use.
On the other hand he feared the attack would come from the Middle East, from the groups among them that care about "holy wars," and the afterlife more than this life.
Whether he was right none of us can know for sure, but I doubt those who are in the 2nd group are at all pleased about what tsf has in mind for Palestine. Our now former allies aren't going to have our backs and our military is now led by unexperienced yes men. So he might have interpreted the tea leaves correctly.
