donnie's public berating of zelenskyy is like the pet that drags a dead bird into the living room.

the pet is convinced he's doing what his master wants, giving him a gift and showing obedience and support and usefulness and expects to be rewarded for his efforts.

while the master may appreciate the sign of loyalty and understand that the pet meant well, the gift is worse than useless, in fact is causes a mess the master will have to clean up.


so it is with donnie's ridiculous show with zelenskyy. it was obviously meant to delight putin. it can't be a coincidence that the first time tass (russian state media) was allowed in a white house presser like this, they are treated to an unprecedentedly abusive attack on the leader of the country they are at war with.

but is this really what putin wanted? i doubt it. putin no doubt appreciates donnie's intentions as an act of loyalty, but what putin wanted was for donnie to get zelenskyy to surrender, and donnie not only failed, but made it impossible for him to surrender now. any further talk of even just a cease-fire would make zelenskyy look incredibly weak and he'd lose all power quickly.

all donnie actually did for putin was make a mess for him.
