We may be witnessing the birth of a new Europe.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський
@ZelenskyyUa
The summit in London was dedicated to Ukraine and our shared European future.

We feel strong support for Ukraine, for our people – both soldiers and civilians, and our independence. Together, we are working in Europe to establish a solid foundation for cooperation with the United States in pursuit of true peace and guaranteed security.

Europe’s unity is at an exceptionally high level, one that has not been seen in a long time.

We are discussing with our partners security guarantees and the conditions for a just peace for Ukraine. A series of important meetings and decisions are being prepared for the near future.

I am grateful to all our friends and partners for their efforts in bringing about a stable and guaranteed peace in Ukraine. Joint strength can protect our future.

One flag is missing. America sells out to a dictator

Slava Ukraini

We may be witnessing the birth of a new Europe. And, we owe it to one man: president Zelenskyy. He showed the whole world Trump's submission to Putin.

Trump takes the knee to a dictator while our former allies stand for Freedom.

Trump tried to set up these tariffs one at a time, so he could extort people individually. But now America is outside looking in. That has to strengthen Trudeau's hand. Trump can't go on with his only friends being Vlad, Vic, and Kim.

I bet Trump kicks the tariff can down the road again.

Tariffs on Canada are to start tomorrow, if the one-month extension is to be believed. No word from Trump, either nay or yay, or the percentage or the list of goods. Utter maliciousness and arrogance.

So we are freaking out here.

On the bright side, Trump's genius move has brought Trudeau's Liberals back from the dead. They narrowed the huge gap of 27 points in polls against the Conservatives (ugh) to 4% - almost within the margin of error. Way to go Trump!!

Starmer's likely to try to maintain economic co-operation with Trump. There are US investments in the UK in everything from healthcare to arms production. Our Trident fleet won't work without US co-operation. The UK hosts highly significant US listening posts.

Whether he can keep the issue of Ukraine separate from economics and the other considerations is something we'll have to wait and see. Disentangling from the US altogether would be very complicated

I am making plans on how to survive if social security goes away, like turning off the heat and air and greatly increasing our gardening efforts- may have to stop physical therapy? Will that be enough, I doubt it. Will we be able to get the meds we need? Can we survive without them - hubs probably couldn't - his blood pressure would be so sky high. I would be a total mess without my anxiety, stress meds and pot and could go back to not being able to eat - which was my problem previously. Will hospitals provide help if you cant pay and have no insurance - doubtful.

That is what tsf wants to return us to, the desperation the Russians felt when they had to line up all day to buy potatos which were their only food of the day but the oligarchs were spending billions for themselves. I expect the same here shortly with a side of mass killings when ACA, Medicaid and Medicare are effectively killed off. I cant work, have too many memory and health issues and who is going to hire a partially disabled 73 year old in the first place? We are doing well now, but live on social security and a small pension and we couldn't survive on the pension alone. Thank God our house is 100% paid for as are both our cars and we have no surgeries planned.

I don't know how I could love life with fascism running rampant and getting worse on a daily basis if I have virtually no income? My husband is younger, and knows a place that would hire him tomorrow, but the drive is awful and his back is bad and would get worse if he goes back to being on his feet all day. That is the only way I see we could make it and I'd hate that for him. Sigh.
