(380 posts)about you and your video games. Maybe just maybe some people cant handle playing killing simulators, but in your selfish little shell it is all about you.

(2,526 posts)The problem is that they can buy a gun as easily as the game that can't be used, at all, to kill anyone.
Puzzledtraveller
(5,937 posts)Considering that almost all popular FPS and sims are available in other countries that have strict gun control or outright bans.

(20,599 posts)I'm playing FarCry 3 right now. In that violent video game (and yes, it's very very violent, and stunningly beautiful, to boot), you play a twentysomething named Jason Brody, who, with his friends, went on a big vacation to a tropical island to party hard and have fun. They decided to go skydiving before one of them had to be back in Hollywood for a filming, and that's when things went horribly wrong.
The question, and the point of the game, is... what would you do? Run? Not from Vaas. He'll find you, and torture and kill you and all your friends. He murdered your brother right in front of your eyes. Could you leave them? Would you try to avenge your brother's death? Are you the sort who would only preserve your own life- or would you at least try to rescue them?
Hope you don't mind killing Vaas and his men... because that's a requirement if you're going to survive to save your friends.
Welcome to Paradise. Enjoy your stay.

(5,937 posts)in general know little about them. I showed a making of "Skyrim" clip to my girlfriend, she thought it was just a few guys in a hole in the wall office that made these games. Truth is they are very advanced and complex and cost millions to make and they employ hundreds if not thousands of people in numerous disciplines. Much like Hollywood, ahem..
Thanks for your reply Occulus.

(533 posts)About Eric Harris, the columbine shooter. He was an expert on Shakespeare new the bard like the back of his hand they said.
Yet the media goes off afterwards blaming Halo, Marilyn Manson, Natural Born Killers. What did they say about Shakespeare--nothing. Even though the plays of Shakespeare (of which I am a huge fan of) are full of blood and violence.
It is obvious that people use tragedy has a way to go after what they don't understand and like. It is a form of control freaking that has no connection to reason. Sure we should look at causes and solutions to problems, but these knee-jerk reactions and control freak opportunism doesn't really help.

You get the picture, and thought, heck, they practically described me when I was that age and now. Troubling.
Look deeper, my parents divorced when I was 4 years old, watched my dad beat up his girlfriend bloody when I was 6, owned a BB gun and loved to shoot at cans in the backyard, eventually loved and learned to play video games, was in JROTC in high school, if you didn't know any better you would think I was still describing this Lanza character.

(5,937 posts)It is entirely about video games featuring violence, to mean those advocating tighter restrictions or bans probably do not own them or have ever played them and maybe they don't like them even if they had so they won't be missing anything if they go bye-bye.

(380 posts)do you feel joy when you kill someone in your killing simulator? I certainly find joy when I throw a touchdown in Madden or hit a homerun in MLB 2k.

(5,937 posts)and the wastelander, most of which are cannibals do not wear a lot of armor so they die quickly but what I really like is using the Fatboy, a portable nuke launcher, named after Fat Man and Little Boy, it creates a mini mushroom cloud. I also love throwing TD's in Madden, wielding swords in Skyrim, riding Chocobos in Final Fantasy, and catching pokemon on my 3Ds. My favorite snack of all time is loaded potatoe skins.
