I Learned Some More About Magats Today

I live among them in my small town. I used to do my taxes by paper and mail them in, now I take them to people at our senior center, mainly because it's free and they send them in electronically.

I still do my taxes just to double check myself.

So the nice elder Magat lady is going over my 1040 form and when she gets to Social Security she shows me the amount that I have to pay taxes on, and then says that Trump is trying to make SS tax free, which it should be.

Of course I then chime in that it will be nice to not pay any taxes on SS if its still there to pay taxes on. She then gives me a lecture about how Trump is just cutting out the fraud and waste from the federal government and tells me about how lazy federal workers are just blowing away our tax dollars.

My wife was with me so I bit my tongue and only said, I hope you are right, you must be a glass half full person, I'm a glass half empty person.

So when Krasnov and Musk tear down our Federal agencies they are only tearing down the lazy people who do nothing. I guess it's going to have to get worse before they catch on, and then it will be too late.

The Peter Principle
The idea that people will be promoted up to a point where they are no longer qualified, leaving a company full of incompetent employees.

Personally, I think it's more DEI hiring than the Peter Principle. The PP implies they are qualified for all their promotions prior to the last one & that' s not always the case. White straight males get preferential consideration for everything, qualified or not. Some are genuinely qualified & make it to the top, but many of them aren't.

on one hand. Saw more of them in the private sector. Both had rating evaluations, both expected overtime from workers. Only difference was that the private sector rarely gave raises and didn't pay overtime (everyone was salaried). Gov't. had "step" increases and paid overtime.

MAGAts are simple folk. No measurable human intelligence. No real intrinsic worth as human beings. Fond of MMA and pointless, decades-long blood feuds.

Wave an American flag in their faces, and they will commit any atrocity, break any promise, abrogate any oath, perform any perversion, and murder any innocent person you tell them to.

If we could find some reliable way to keep them holed up in their hovels and not bother those of us who want to live in an honorable country, I would help fund that effort in any way I could.

First it was "there is some fraud in welfare". Then it was "there is a lot of fraud in welfare." Then it was "rampant" fraud in welfare. Then "welfare queens". Finally, "all welfare is fraud."

They pulled it with unemployment insurance. Grants. You name it, and they are screaming fraud.

Now they are pulling it with Social Security.

You would think people would have caught on to this by now.

But then again, with TV, internet and talk-radio spewing these lies as fact 24/7 we shouldn't be surprised.

Justice matters.

Many saw the power of the TV in the early 1950's when it started becoming popular, especially what could happen if it was left in corporate hands. Hence the Fairness Doctrine to try and keep that in check.

It's been a predictable and downward slide ever since the Fairness Doctrine was repealed. Even though it did not apply to cable, it at least set some kind of standard. Now it's a free-for-all and we are treated to corporate, right-wing propaganda daily, to the point where many are literally brainwashed by it or are simply left with no facts at all.

It wasn't even a majority, and there's no evidence Russia's murderous war in Ukraine was a significant campaign factor. You're basically accusing Americans of failure to be superheroes.

Meanwhile ignoring everything that came before. The Biden administration warned the world over a week before Russia's invasion, which many wouldn't have in order to preserve their strategic advantage, and many dismissed because their own intelligence was too weak to see it. Ukraine was a beach resort for Soviet apparatchiks and Russian oligarchs, and would have stayed that way.

Regardless of what the Kremlin gains in the short-term, one thing you can be certain of: The revenge of the Free World will be spectacular, and not of the gentle sort that Joe Biden inflicted.

Ukraine exists as an independent nation because of the West's victory in the Cold War. It further exists because of our years'-long defense of it on every front against the genocidal Russian invasion. Your persistent attempts to ignore that and craft a narrative that somehow one guy erases the whole context seems very...odd.

Tue Mar 4, 2025, 01:47 PM
Mar 2025

and when the SS Trust fund is exhausted, S.S. will still pay benefits matching payroll tax revenue PLUS INCOME TAXES ON SOCIAL SECURITY revenue. At least that's the way current law is written. I have no assurance it will stay that way, either thru MAGAT congressional action, or some future illegal executive action.

Anyway, under current law, after SS Trust Funds exhaustion, without income taxation of SS benefits, benefit payments will be less, only what payroll taxes alone can support.

This is not yet another linkless assertion of opinion as fact by some message board rando --

https://www.ssa.gov/policy/trust-funds-summary.html

In 2022, an estimated 48 percent of beneficiaries paid income taxes on part of their benefits. Receipts from these taxes go to the OASDI Trust Funds and Medicare's Hospital Insurance Trust Fund. In 2023, income to the combined OASDI trust funds from the taxation of benefits amounted to $51 billion.

Some more debunking of S.S. myths and memes -- with links to official sources as they were in the Biden administration, including a Social Security trustees report signed by four top Biden administration officials including then Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen:
