I have been posting and saying this until blue in the face:
Nothing will change! The fascism, racism, misogyny, hatred, and white supremacy...NONE OF IT...will change, unless and until we make fascism, racism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy UNPROFITABLE to the corporations, businesses and individuals that fund and enable it.

(17,432 posts)or, own major newspapers, shipping companies, or a My Space rip-off social media site.
They don't own major corporations and use their lucrhre to fund racist, fascist, misogynistic, white supremacist Retrumplican politicians and the Returdlican Party.
It's like buying a German made auto in 1939. It might be a good product, but it's funding FUCKING GAS CHAMBERS!

(2,357 posts)... That would be preferable. But it's not. For some it's race -- they assume that people of color will be the worst off. Others clearly want chaos - the extended dance mix version of the Boogaloo Boys' acccelerationism.
For a smaller number (I'm guessing), but people who have been obsessing for years and shaping their whole lives for this task, the motivations of the theocrats are hardest to counter: Christian Dominionists, New Apostolic Reformation, hyper conservative Roman Catholic subgroups -- and a legion of smaller and more obscure organizations. They don't have money as a motivation, except as a tool to enact policies towards their goals.
Paradoxically, opposing them reinforces their dedication. They apply the words of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount to themselves: "Blessed are you when people persecute you for my sake and the sake of the Gospel."
We are in very real trouble.

Just like a bully changes their tune the first time they get a face full of fives.

(4,560 posts)The fascism, racism, misogyny, hatred, and white supremacy is at the root of every vote for a republican at every level in every place. So tired of the "it was the economy" apologists. Millions of rapist voters knew tariffs would be devastating for them and would worsen inflation, but they voted on a "cultural" basis. It sickens me.
Anecdotally, Clark County, Ohio voted strongly for the rapist (60%+). It also happened to be the place terror threats arose from conspiracy theories about Haitian immigrants eating pets being amplified by the rapist. The rapist put the lives of Clark County residents in danger by lying about their community. White voters in Clark County were upset at the mischaracterization of their municipality. Yet a majority of Clark County residents voted for the rapist.
This sort of disconnected thinking happened in enough places to put us where we are now. The rapist is president today because, in spite of all the things he is, he isn't a black woman.
