Bennet just went there.

Last edited Thu Mar 6, 2025, 05:30 PM - Edit history (1)

Colorado's Michael Bennet, just exploded in the Senate chamber. He was reacting as a member of the Intelligence Committee to Trump's order to cut off all American intelligence assistance to Ukraine. And he used the GOP's main deity, Ronald Reagan, to call out the republicans who are wanting Trump to be seen as peacemaker, citing RR's theme of "peace through strength". Bennet was rightfully livid. I'm hoping to find a video, well worth watching.

The objection came, not surprisingly, from Thune's bestest sniveller John Barrasso.

Proud to say that Bennet is my senator.

Thanks to generalbetrayus for getting the video:

The Dems know what is right and eventually shit gonna boil over. It's happening. I will judge our people how they defend our Democracy in these trying times. Rep. Al Green, Rep Crockett, Rep Raskin, Senator Shiff, Bernie (he needs no introduction he's Bernie and he wouldn't even give a shit about not being called Senator Sanders), Rep Swalwell and a few others are starting to sound the alarms. Fight the fascists or become a subject. Our nation is at stake here, this isn't Reagan putting idiot James Watt into the government as interior sec, this is Goering, Goebbels , Himmler level shit.

And before I get the "our republicans are not executing" innocent people. That's right. Neither did those men I mention above...at first. Fuck this.

They're literally aligning with Reagan's axis of evil. And calling themselves "peacemakers". Such horseshit! At least Reagan had the good sense to know who the goddamn enemies were....and are. They haven't changed much in all these years.

That's how investments work, Republicans. I thought you dumbasses were supposed to be the "business" party, and this is the business of diplomacy.
It takes investment to reap rewards. Same with education. Same with healthcare. Duh. There's no rocket science here, just the nuts and bolts of diplomacy, governance, and national defense. It's too bad all you Republicans hate government since it seems too hard, looks too complicated and expensive, and serves even people you personally wouldn't bother with. Get your lips off Trump's ass or get out of the Capitol and let real patriots get in there make progress on the Founding Fathers' dream of liberty, equality, and prosperity for all.

There's some in there about how Republicans think Federal employees don't have real jobs and their paycheck money goes into a blackhole that somehow sucks it out of the national economy.

And we have a friend who lived in Kiev when the war started. She came to live with us for six months, then moved back to Europe. She's now afraid she may never get to go home.

I'm glad Bennet made a stink. I wish Hick would be a little louder.

Rather, his words are turned back on the party that deified him, suggesting that he would not appreciate their blasphemy. It's kind of like when it's pointed out that Christian Nationalism is an oxymoron. In other words, the present GOP has no idea what the hell they're doing.
