(1,492 posts)I imagine that the Brits have a vivid lingering understanding of Nazism that we do not have. Of course most from that generation is gone, but the history of the Blitz certainly must have left a mark. But now America is akin to Germany. Maybe the Brits and the Europeans will come to our aid somehow. I am glad that the Canadians have been talking to the Europeans and getting closer to them.

(28,249 posts)A whole other generation grew up surrounded by ruins. Children and grandchildren grew up hearing stories about it.

(1,492 posts)We were fortunate enough to have large oceans between us and the Nazis and the Imperial Japanese. Now the Fascists are "inside the house", so to speak. Scary times. The English were not very far from Germany. What a thing to go through. I was thinking of rewatching the movie "Dunkirk". Those Brits were pretty tough.
