Trump claimed the Biden administration spent $8 million "making mice transgender." The White House tried to back up this number with records of funding for research into cancer, asthma, and HIV, some of which used *transgenic* (genetically modified) mice.

type of things. Obviously, this is effectively medical research for humans, as nearly all experiments using mice are. But hey, it's loosely related to transgender care, so, yah know, that becomes: 'Turning Mice Transgender!' for the consumption of the knuckle-dragging morons of Cult47.

3. Transgenic means human cells are added to the mice DNA

so they can study the effects on humans, for asthma, using mice. There is no connection to transgender anything or changing anything to do with the sexual orientation of mice. Trump did a faceplant, and Musk and JD joined in, proving what happens when you don't talk with the experts in government.

5. Yes, well I took the extra step of looking up what the studies were, since Trump listed them on whitehouse.gov

Along with a childish rant about how he was right and the 'fact checkers' were wrong.

Among the things on the list were:

"$299,940: “Gender-Affirming Testosterone Therapy on Breast Cancer Risk and Treatment Outcomes”

"$735,113: “Microbiome mediated effects of gender affirming hormone therapy in mice”

So, there is some stuff on the list that is tangentially related to human transgender care, which is why I said what I said. It is, however, NOT $8M worth, nor is it anything like "turning mice transgender" in any way, shape, or form.

8. Okay, well, let me end this by vigorously stating my opinion

that's there nothing inherently wrong with the sorts of studies Trump is whining about by putting in his little list. As such, my guess (hence my use of the word 'apparently' in my original post) would be that he's not making them up out of whole cloth, rather, he's just full-on distorting what their actual purpose was/is. He's also including some studies as being part of the 8M that have ENTIRELY nothing to do with transgender ANYthing, as you and the Bluesky poster correctly pointed out. Lastly, Trumps wh.gov list is exactly where the Bluesky poster copied the word 'transgenic' from in the first place. So if what Trump posted is entirely not credible, then neither is the Bluesky post
