(2,937 posts)First I heard of this, 4:00 ET on the 7th
. Interestingly about 20 minutes after ordering something on Amazon
Will try to not buy any more this week. But this would have been more effective with more notice, more like two weeks ahead.
Do have a package coming in tomorrow, but I think I can go without ordering for next while. I had already decided to stop buying my ebooks there, since theyve stopped letting one download the books. (Never saw the need for an additional book device when I already had iPhone & iPad.) Id been buying from Amazon over Apple because the reader was a bit better.

(2,007 posts)Amazon makes 75% of its profits from AWS (Amazon Web Services), which is basically the entire internet. DU runs on AWS. So does Reddit. If you use a cell phone, you are using AWS and giving Bezos money. If you use the internet, you are using AWS. Netflix, HBO, Disney, all the social media platforms. Tens of thousands of websites run on AWS. It is impossible to avoid using it.
Boycotting the Amazon store disproportionately harms small business owners. It does not make sense to participate in a boycott that doesn't really do anything while completely ignoring the way Amazon is making the vast majority of their money, especially when what you're boycotting WILL harm the little guy.
