A House Republican and House Democrat got into a confrontation over a sign protesting President Trump before his speech to Congress had even begun.
Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), who was standing along the aisle in view of cameras as Trump walked into the chamber and greeted Republicans, held up a handwritten sign that said: This is not normal.
After Trump walked by, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) who was standing along the other side of the aisle and had greeted the president as he walked by reached across the aisle and ripped it away from her, tossing the piece of paper.
It was an early incident that set the tone for Democrats mounting even more dramatic protests during Trumps speech.

This clip is the perfect metaphor between the Republicans and Democrats right now. Might is right and "normalcy" has been thrown to the wind. Gone is the attitude of upholding respect and reverence for institutions. The age of "WWE Politics" is in full swing.

in the face, and if she has nails leave a scratch. I believe that act can be described as an assault, especially with a woman on the receiving end.

...another confrontation like the "Sumner incident".
Violence reached the floor of the United States Senate, where Congressman Preston Brooks of South Carolina savagely beat Abolitionist Senator Charles Sumner with his cane. Southern sympathizers sent Brooks new canes. Members began carrying knives and pistols into the Chamber. Meanwhile, the Nation's Chief Executive, James Buchanan, did nothing.

Or maybe a duel? Anyone remember that little dispute between Chris Matthews and the late Zell Miller?
