Mediaite: Fetterman Urges Senate Democrats to Make a Deal to Avoid Plunging 'The Country Into Chaos'

Mediaite - Fetterman Urges Senate Democrats to Make a Deal to Avoid Plunging ‘The Country Into Chaos’

Alex Griffing
Mar 13th, 2025, 12:30 pm

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) urged his fellow Senate Democrats on Thursday to pass the House Republicans’ bill to keep the government open and avoid a shutdown.

“Shut the government down, plunge the country into chaos, risk a recession or exchange cloture for a 30 day CR that 100% fails,” Fetterman posted to X, adding:

The House GOP CR will then pass the Senate because it only needs 51 votes.

Total theater is neither honest with constituents nor a winning argument.

The centrist Democrat offered a similar message to CNN’s Manu Raju on Wednesday night, saying, “If you shut it down, you will impact and hurt millions and millions and millions of Americans. And you run the risk of it slipping us into a recession or even all kinds of other things.”

Raju reported on his exchange with Fetterman and added, “And there’s just not much time here, Erin, because the house has actually left town. They are gone. They passed their bill on the narrowest of majorities just yesterday, and the Republicans are now planning to bring that chamber back.”

. . . but haven't elaborated on why you think the OP has anything to do with his stance on Israel. The OP is about Fetterman encouraging Senate Democrats to "make a [very bad deal" with Republicans by voting for an absolutely toxic continuing resolution Republicans are trying to push through. The OP doesn't 3even mention his stance on Israel, so I'm having a hard time understanding what your point is.

which is what historians say about dealing with authoritarians, but apparently some of our elected Dems like Fetterman have not learned this.

The best thing Dems can do is shut it down - it shows we don't agree with what Trump/Musk are doing - and are the only ones willing to stand up.

Dems won't be blamed by centrist/swing voters - who tend to blame the party in power for not getting things done. Trump is supposedly the 'deal maker' and if things aren't running it will be his fault.

Democrats need to hold firm. When they blame us we blame them back. Make clear what Republicans put in the bill that we don’t agree to. Don’t let M$M pressure us into biting into this shit sandwich. Republicans have the majority this is THEIR shutdown. Say so!

Sen. Fetterman, Your job, should you choose to recognize it, is to bully the Chaos Agents (i.e., fascist GOP bootlickers not representing all their citizen constituents) into acting like Representatives instead like bobble-headed corporate stooges clinging to useless nepo-management jobs

On edit - or you can join them to dismantle all protections for your vaunted "working class families" and live with being a hypocritical loser for the rest of your life.

To be as serious about being a Democrat as Manchin, Sinema, Tulsi and the Charlotte NC female Dem that switched parties the day after being elected.
Does this fool believe we will not be in chaos passing this scam and going headstrong into what they are doing in our face now?
With less oversight?
Maybe he can afford some MTG Boy friend approved attire while in OUR house as he keeps taking a salary from billionaires. And the side cash he gets from his constituents, with great benefits.
When are people gonna stop demanding the ownership of BALL’s as a way to stop this shit. The GQP majority are ball carrying people.
The bravest fighters I see trying to save out nation, are totally Balless.
Fettermans balls just fell out of those baggy shorts and fled the scene. Looking for a host with a backbone.

The CR the House Republicans are pushing is not acceptable. The Senators need to get to work on a more serious bill. If the Government shuts down because of this Republican nonsense, then it's on the Republicans.
