What's the deal with Schumer?

He changed his mind overnight from a no to capitulation, he's now just willing to go along and get nothing in return. You'd think he would at least make them negotiate instead of handing them everything they want without so much as a whimper, let alone a good fight. I read what Schiff said and I'm with him, a hard no, I hope the rest of them are as well.

Though I honestly have to say that the "sins" that so many may be hiding/are blackmailed against are probably quite 'quaint' compared to those of Trump, et al.

and ended up cornered with no good choices.
We need masterful strategists to battle relentless corruption like this.

And support him on this. It sucks - but they are in a no-win situation. Keep letting the GOP own the economic downturn.

Go check out OpenSecrets.org. Schumer's top donors come from the financial/banking sector, headed up by Blackstone. You don't think those folks want massive deregulation? In these post Citizens United days, money doesn't just talk, it commands. Schumer listened.

like Garland and Mueller, that still believe in upholding norms and proceeding cautiously - that bipartisanship is something that the other side would somehow value.

But we're just not living in those times. Trump/Musk view anyone who plays by the regular rules as stupid/weak etc - that's their superpower - getting everyone else to go along with the old ways while they do the opposite.

Shutting downt the gov't would've caused some pain in the markets and gov't services - but would've made a stand and would've caused Trump's poll numbers to fall. Trump brands himself the deal maker and if no deal was getting done the public would've blamed him and his party.

By going along, it just helps to normalize Trump/Musk, who will now proceed with his agenda unfettered, as the Reconciliation bill only requires a simple majority in the Senate. This (legislative filibuster) was one of the few areas of power we had.
