Shut it down

People calling for the CR don't seem to realize how bad things already are.

The last thing on Earth Democrats should do is vote to continue this madness.

Things are horrible. Musk is being allowed to run rampant. Our only hope is for Democrats to stand up and say "no more!"

NIH funding is on hold, federal employees are bring fired for no reason, no flu vaccine is being developed, the Secretary of Health and Human Services says it would be good for everyone to get measles, Trump is threatening to invade Canada, Greenland, and Panama, we've abandoned Ukraine, the head of our military is a drunken rapist who is hoping for Armageddon, Trump wants to build resorts in Gaza, a Russian plant runs our intelligence agencies, we've abandoned all efforts to control climate change, small businesses are going under all over the country, we've abandoned millions of people all over the world who were getting aid from USAID, the stock market is tanking, prices are up, there's a bird flu epidemic nobody is tracking, federal agencies are deleting decades of data, people are being arrested and held for no cause, immigrants are being sent to Gitmo in chains,

Trump threatens and un-threatens and rethreatens tariffs every couple of hours, all our allies are furious with us, we've abandoned NATO, our astronauts are stuck in space and dependent on Elon Musk to bring them home, historical photos of women, Black, and LGBTQ people are being deleted from federal archives, trans people are being raped and beaten in prison because they've been moved into their opposite sex's populations, trans people can't get passports, people don't know what Musk's 19-year old college dropouts who call themselves "big balls" are doing with our social security and treasury data.... what did I miss?

Sure, courts keep saying "this is unconstitutional, rehire these people" but NOBODY HAS BEEN REHIRED. Nobody has been released from Gitmo or that for-profit prison in Louisiana. Nobody is getting their grants or contracts.

This is happening right now, and Chuck Schumer is going to vote to continue it. Like everything will be fine.

It's not fine. This is not fine. Shut it down.

The CR is unconstitutional and will give the power of the purse to Elon Musk.

The CR will neuter Congress.

My kneejerk is that we should FIGHT. But the repercussions on THIS particular fight may defeat us in in future ones.

I don't know the "right" answer. I'm not sure there is one beyond getting these monsters out of our government and legislature. Can we wait for an election to do so? I don't know that either.

This choice is between going along with what Trump is doing vs. saying no to him.

Democrats are overthinking this. It's actually very simple. We don't go along with what Trump is doing. We don't agree with it. We reject the continuing resolution that codifies what Trump is doing.

the metaphor considers consequences. It wasn't just a matter of telling the NAZIs "NO." It is apt.

That said, my Senatorial delegation ARE BOTH VOTING NO, as I moved for them to do. But my assurance that this is the right choice is not 100%. It may not succeed, but there will be consequences regardless. Just as with Sophie's Choice.

Democrats could challenge the Constitutionality of the CR. Art 1, section 8, Clause 1, grants Congress (not an illegal alien) the power to tax and spend money for the general welfare of the United States.

Fight them for fuck's sake.

It was just a matter of telling the NAZIs "NO." That is the only thing that worked. I understand that people are fearful about the consequences of standing up to bullies, but let's not fool ourselves and couch that fear as "strategy."

You can't control or even predict the consequences. It is a dangerous illusion to think you can finesse your way through this.

To suggest saying "NO" to the NAZIs in THAT scenario was an option only shows you do NOT.

Don't misappropriate MY message EITHER. Reread what I have written. I believe in opposing the CR, but to claim it will not have consequences every bit as serious as the CR itself is foolish. I simply believe in standing on our principles when all choices are bad.

If his constituents are content with his "leadership" and representation, then let them vote him in again or allow him to stay in the caucus, but he is utterly overwhelmed by the moment and incapable of leading anyone much less leading an effective counter to this crisis moment.

Chuck, when you're out front and turn around to find no one following you, you're not leading any more.
You're out for a walk.

Know the difference and please act accordingly - for the good of the people and the party, before it really is too late.
Power for power's sake is not a Democratic Party value or platform plank that I recall...

it is not up to the dems to shut it down - we control nothing right now. House, Senate, Supreme Court - all under republican control. Make them own it. If they're going to pass CR, they do it on their own.

Democrats need to hold the line, say NO - we are not helping you destroy the country, vote no, and walk out.

I don't know what they threatened Schumer with, or which donor is on him, but it is WRONG for him to sell out his constituents. EVERY senator should be voting against this horrible CR.

The Democratic Party is willing to negotiate when Republicans are prepared to be reasonable.

The Orange Fuhrer will loudly and repeatedly blame the government shutdown on Democrats, who need to demonstrate they have just begun to fight.

Truth and the United States Constitution are on our side.

I felt this way when, in Obama's first term, he sold us out to the banksters. Many of us here at the time complained (as much as the constraints allowed!). Turns out we were right.
Give in to this BS and blackmail from tramp and his garbage, and there won't be a 'next time."
Jobs are already lost, services are already gone and people HOPE that's all that will happen. They are like the guy with no money, who goes into a seafood place, orders Oyster Stew expecting to pay for it with the pearl he finds in the oyster!
Tramp LIES. I know it. We all know it. He WILL lie again. But the next time it could totally be the end.

He's a vindictive little prick...always was and always will be. Get that through your heads. He is taking out his bankruptcys, losses and humiliations on America. And when it's all said and done the way he and Vlad and Elon planned, he'll have that Tramp Tower in the middle of Moscow...and winter in Tramp Gaza.

As an aside, if he can actually get the military and its leaders to believe him enough to "retake the Canal" it is over. They may be the only ones who can stop him. Reserve your place in a bread line...if you're lucky.

Shut it down. His business buddies won't like that at all.
But what's worse is that those who make the decision to capitulate to Adolph II, will NOT suffer one bit!. Noe will their families and friends. If you were in their place, you might do the same.

People on the edge need to understand...the right DOESN'T CARE about us or our feelings or...our lives.
