For the last 3-4 days, I'm receiving 6 or more spam calls daily - all different numbers- I have an Android call screen, but all callers keep the line.open for a minute, and say nothing. I block them all and report spam - but this is far more than I've ever dealt with.
PLEASE NOTE - I never answer them - my spam screen picks them off.

(706 posts)The spammers know the FCC isn't going to go after them like they started to under Biden. They are spammers for a reason, if they see an opening they will take it. The carriers won't stop them because they make money off of it.

(11,503 posts)99% of the time so those calls just go to voicemail (none are ever left). I figure there's no point in blocking the numbers because no number is ever used more than once.

(9,212 posts)But I dont usually answer the phone if I dont know who it is. I have caller ID. I did have some strange people who sounded like they were from the islands asking about the property. I told two of them that Im going to report them if they keep calling here and how did they get my number, etc.
We have also had a strange repair man calling here for like three years and saying oh Im calling about the work you needed done and I told him several times that I dont know who you are and I didnt ask for any estimates. I asked him for the name of the company and he will never give that. If he calls again, Im going to report him too.
I advise everybody never to hire anybody that calls you over the phone to do work on your home. Because I did that once when I wasnt feeling well when one of my cats died and they scammed my father out of thousands of dollars while I was asleep. I woke up to the whole house being torn to shreds etc. I got all of the money back, but it was very stressful and I ended up in the hospital not long after that from stress, etc. I would say about 99% of the contractors, etc. in this area are total crooks.

(5,887 posts)I mark it as spam and delete.
Also, when I call out, I have No Caller ID.
I do miss connecting with some necessary numbers, but my phone is now silent, as it should be.
I was getting way too many spam calls. Now, I have peace again.
on edit: I did sign up for a security plan that screens calls and monitors spam online and on the phone. It is worth it for my sanity.
