lower than in the US.

Lower-income Canadians generally pay less in taxes than lower-income Americans for the services they receive. Wealthy Americans, on the other hand, often pay less in taxes than wealthy Canadians through a combination of deductions, credits, and tax-reduction strategies.

I couldn't afford to live without help from my family, after my divorce. I wish so very much that I could have moved to B. C., or the Yukon. It is so beautiful there!
If I had managed to emigrate, I could have applied for citizenship and happily lived in a country where most people are kind and that also doesn't bankrupt people for medical care.
America needs to drop the toxic frontier mentality of having to " pull yourself up by your bootstraps". This stupid phrase was originally meant to denote an impossible task.
I wish more of our people would understand and embrace the concept that everyone does better when we all do better. We need to fight back against propaganda and spread the truth that taking care of all of our citizens is the right thing to do.

Personally, I’d rather swim in snot before I would as much as go to Canada on a short vacation. I do, however wholeheartedly applaud their instance on their sovereignty. Good on them.

To my surprise only three, and one of them was 'that' post.

So in a way, DU is on the map!

But it's more likely that the poster was indicating that if vacationing in Canada they would feel short-changed by a short vacation. So many great people, museums, restaurants, hiking, camping, scenery et al that one needs a long vacation to be completely satisfied.

I think Trump is operating under WWPD: What would Putin do?

Putin tried to annex Ukraine.

Trump is talking about annexing another country.

It will never happen.

Canadians do not want our health care system of:
Medical bankruptcies
Health insurers refusing payment under the guise of not medically necessary.
Etc.

Some Americans do not want it either unless we have their healthcare system.
Some Americans cross over into Canada to get their prescription drugs filled.
It is cheaper there.

Trump lacks any originality of thought.
Also, Trump does not think things through.
Republicans privately probably do not want it either.
Republicans would lose their majorities in the House and the Presidency.
