Canada could ban Pornhub in the US. Ron Filipkowski: "I can't think of anything that would hurt MAGA more. Especially

their political pastors."

Ron's Bluesky post, showing this NY Post headline: Canada has ‘nuclear weapon’ in trade war — ban Pornhub in US:

https://bsky.app/profile/ronfilipkowski.bsky.social/post/3lkhfra5a622a

The article

https://nypost.com/2025/03/15/world-news/canada-has-nuclear-weapon-in-trade-war-ban-pornhub-in-us/

The idea is the brainchild of funnyman Matthew Puzhitsky, who posted a now-viral Instagram video suggesting the X-rated offensive — calling it Canada’s “nuclear weapon.”

Pornhub is the most visited in the US with more than 3 million views a month.

“If Canada could ban Pornhub in the states, we win the trade war. That’s it. There is no trade war,” the Toronto stand-up comedian told The Post.

Trump brings out the best, or is it the worst in me. Just like everyone on DU. I’d rather not have all the material to work with. I long for the days when President Biden was governing in a boring manner.

As the opposition in the US, we have to think of every creative way to cause pain to Trump. In this venture we are partners with the Canadians for sure, eh?

There is nothing normal about anything today. I'm all for this idea.

19 states, virtually all of them ted states, require age verification to access porn sites. Sounders in those states already are resorting to VPNs to evade that requirement. I’m sure Filipowski knows that and he was making a satirical, not serious, point.

if this isn't some kind of satire, but the article includes: Pornhub, whose parent company is Montreal-based entertainment conglomerate Aylo, which owns a dozen popular X-rated sites.

If US IP addresses can't get a response from the server, they get no porn.

Voila.

You can 'change' your apparent location with some? all? VPN. (virtual private network--don't use the OS built-in one, get a subscription VPN for best security)

Nineteen states have laws requiring age verification to access porn sites. Virtually all of them are inbred states. And folks in those states are turning to VPNs to get around those restrictions.

If it isn't, it should be. It wouldn't matter where their VPN says they are, they'd still have to supply a credit card number.

I won't mention them for fear of breaking DU rules, but there are at least two to three dozen similar or superior sites I could name off the top of my head without googling, and that's ignoring the NSFW areas of Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit and Tiktok, four of the largest social media platforms on the planet.

Still, it'd be funny to watch the Canucks play that card. I say they should go for it.

If somebody put a link to pornhub on their computer, many of them wouldn't be able to figure out how to find a substitute.

And even if they did, this would be just the kind of story the American media would find newsworthy.

Then there is this: https://theprawnhubonline.wordpress.com/

With anything to do with LGBTQi+ counting as pornographic.

They want all producers and distributors of porn to be imprisoned – and they consider librarians and teachers as potential purveyors who ought to be classed as registered sex offenders..

Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance, is not a political Gordian knot inextricably binding up disparate claims about free speech, property rights, sexual liberation, and child welfare. It has no claim to First Amendment protection. Itspurveyors are child predators and misogynistic exploiters of women. Their productis as addictive as any illicit drug and as psychologically destructive as any crime.Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it shouldbe imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.
